I should have clarified that I like "old school" rap - being bought up by a mother (werd) who was into Public Enemy and NWA it's easy to see why.

Problem is that the genre hasn't moved on in 20 years, and in fact it has stagnated.

About 7 years ago I would also have stated I hated metal, mainly because I had a preconception that it was all undecipherable screaming (I hate that sort of music too). Then my horizons were broadened and I listen to quite a lot of it now.

I remember being into Trance when it was first around too. Again, hasn't changed in the slightest. Tune into Judge "I fellate men" Jules on Radio 1 and it's like being in a time warp from 10 years ago.
