On a whim I just counted the console games I have on the shelf in my living room. They're all current or last-gen ones, so Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2, Xbox, DS, PSP, 360, Wii and PS3. There were 180.
I don't know where this is going, perhaps a challenge or marathon but for me to play each of those in a 12-hour period, I could only spend 4 minutes per game with no breaks.
In some games that would barely get me past the menu screen, but console gaming is traditionally more immediate than PC gaming. I haven't counted how many PC games I have, but just installing them all would probably take weeks rather than days.
I've been playing PC games much longer than I have console games, and it's difficult to say which would still be considered "current". While my living room shelves clearly demonstrate which console games I do or intend to revisit, my PC selection is a little more eclectic.
I've actually played a couple of 2003 releases this week, and Starcraft is kind of niggling at me to be played before its sequel turns up. Certain types of game just last longer and it's only recently I bought the back-catalogue of the Pharaoh/Caesar series.
I'm conscious that I've missed a lot of games over the years, including all those that used the Infinity Engine - there's a lot of stories just in there I'd like to hear, and the level of detail, while a bit pixelly, probably surpasses more modern releases.
I'm not really asking a question, just thinking out loud. Bit of a brainfart post. Parp!
Lots of games

I'll try and get something together this week, perhaps a few things.
If you take the JPGs out of my console collection, it's largely the odd AAA title and sports (mostly driving) games, which most people will have experienced already, as they sell best so are most likely to be found gracing friends' consoles.
I'd enjoy doing a round up of the JRPGs as they're an area people won't necessarily know about and one I've been fascinated by since the MegaDrive. Before then I'd been playing the SSI Gold Box games which had similar gameplay elements, indeed JRPGs have really just grown from a merging of the early RPGs like Ultima and Wizardry with the style of anime/manga.
Apart from those I guess I have a few unusual releases which might be worth a mention, some good, some terrible.
