As I see it -

Because TF is going strong but L4D isn't so much.

TF is probably easier to produce maps, weapons, upgrades, achievements and general stuff for. I think this purely because it's a less involved and far less story driven game. It gives players nothing but the new content.

L4D needs AI director updates and constant re-runs of new mini-campaigns to tweak and balance everything, this process is far more involving and they may have decided to re-write a whole new way of adapting the AI to maps and use that code base instead.

Because to have L4D2 as apparently complete as they do they've either used an entirely new team, or stopped working on L4D quite quickly.

I don't know any of this but it's what I gather from the very little I know or see. I won't blindly bash on valve because they've produced epic works of gaming art time and again and they've forced revolution in how games are sold and stored etc. But this feels like a low point, it feels like they've reneged on promises and it's a bit of a shock to see them apparently do an EA.

:above: Judging by the way L4D2 looks, I'd say they began working on it as soon as L4D was out.

Oh what, I'm agreeing with Pete on something? Something's wrong here guys.

I bet you that Valve will bring a lot of the stuff from 2 to the original.

I do think it's really soon to push out a sequel, and I've said before I'm not going to pay full price for it.

As for your claim that TF2 is easier to make content for, I think you're dead wrong because with the 9 classes it's a lot harder to maintain the balance. I bet you they have to do way more iterations for each TF2 update.

Maybe it's a reaction to Killing Floor. They saw that L4D play tailed off yet further on it's release and decided that only a full-blown sequel would restore interest in the franchise. So they binned all the planned updates and included them in L4D2 instead.

"Yeah we promised 'updates', but we never said you wouldn't have to pay for them"

Nothing says "retard conspiracy theory video" better then dubbing in the Requiem For a Dream theme.

:above: Serious misuse of excellent musics is serious.

A few clips of promises about a game with music from a film that brings up images of armless junkies, women doing depraved things for a fix and old ladies getting electro shocked in the head, it doesn't work.

I love that Kronos Quartet music, and whenever I hear it on Sky Fucking Sports, a little bit of me dies inside.

Or they could be using L4D players to test a new network matchmaking component they plan to use in L4D2 for frees.
