They were using 300 baud back in the 60's? o.O I was using 300 baud in the late 80's. Used it to play trade wars on my friends modified WWIV BBS.

Wow, never knew that modems used to work through sounds from the telephone headset.

In truth, I thought the rubber-shrouded phone-handset-slurping modems depicted were rather odd watching the films new at the time. We hadn't had phones that fit them since..well since there wasn't any choice - everyone I knew had the squarish BT slim efforts which would never have worked in those.

Another reason BT meant we were 10 years late to online stuff (Compu$erve being the other one), unless you worked in the industry.
