I'm going to go out on a limb here, not the usual kind of film I would go and see and I doubt it is one that any of you bummers have on your "Films I must See" list but.... I did enjoy this film.
I have the excuse of being able to say I was taking the kids, but at the same time there were a number of things that struck me about it. The fact that it is mostly done in Stop Frame Animation, could quite easilly have been done in CGI but the fact they spent the time doing it this way shows they were dedicated in getting the film across.
The premise of the film is about a young girl called Coraline who has moved in to a small apartment block with her mum and dad, they are busy working on a book and don't have time for her.
She finds a small door in the wall and at night she goes in and finds a parallel world where her other Mum and Dad are the perfect parents, only difference is they have Buttons for eyes... yes shiny, black buttons..
If you have a fear of needles or pins then this film is definitely not for you!!
I won't tell you what happens suffice to say the Kids loved it (Boy and Girl aged 13 and 11), i enjoyed it as well, has enough dark undertones to make it scary and unnerving and some great chatacters played by French and Saunders.
8 out of 10 I would say... worth sweeping if it falls on the floor, and I want one of those Scotty Terriers with Bat Wings!!

I saw the trailer a while back and really liked the creepy vibe. It's currently on my lovefilm list waiting to be magicked in to existence.
