If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Introducing The Caseless Case

How is this for a "minimalist" case! This is basically an acrylic motherboard tray that has slots for your hard drive, optical drive, a space for your PSU, a built in handle and not much else. Imagine taking that to your next LAN party.

Hmm, that would be fantastic as a test bed type thingie for computer shops/companies.

For Lans? lolololol, transportation is an issue, and having your parts exposed is likely to get them broken. Not to mention people can go nicking.

And then there's airflow, I wonder if stuff runs cooler if it's just got access to ambient air or if stuff in cases is better with a couple of 120mm fans front and back to shunt the air through and carry the heat away....

I think airflow works better if it's flowing. Carries the heat away faster.

Also worth noting that nothing is plugged in there. The PSU is disconnected, which means a bitch-load of ugly wires. Also, no case support for PCI/Graphics cards. That's a lot of pressure to be putting on the connectors on the mainboard.

Good enough as a testbed, wouldn't use it for much else though.

and IME, machines cool better when the side's on, and fans push air over things, like they're meant to.

Yeah, imagine taking that to your next lan party, and never seeing any of it again. Stupid [H] writer.

Or you get to the LAN party, and it's raining.
