Okay, I have yet to test it, but apparently all you have to do is download it, unzip it, and place the zzz.germanmod.iwd file in your COD2/main folder and away you go.

Please let me know how you get on with this, it seems to good to be true

I shall have to try this.
I'm a tad annoyed that it looks like we'll have a folder full of files "zzzzzzzzMapPak79_NewWeapons.wki" again.

Just tried this and it works quite nicely. I found it harder as a German for some reason though.
