This is assuming it isn't a maglock:

Lockpicking: 8,3,+2 = 13 (bloody hell, I do believe that is my first ever lock pick roll over 11)

And assuming it gets us in...

Can't leave you kids alone for five minutes. He's in the process of waking up from Spindle's knock when you let yourself in.

Roman, I guess it's your turn to question him, since you broke in.

Sleepy bloke wrote:Damn, I can see who you are. D'ya have to go sneaking into my place like that? Shit. Erm, yeah. Some big mean bastard made a less subtle entrance than you guys did. Last night? Or maybe the night before. Yeah, he came in, told me to stay back, then hung around for a bit all quiet. Then he yanked open my door and started shooting up the guys in the corridor. He looked pretty calm, like he knew what he was doing. Anyway, after the firing they were out there a fair while and I think they dragged the dead guys off.
He doesn't sound aggressive, just taken aback.

Dirk wrote:Thank you for the information, and apologies for startling you - as you can imagine we're trying to be as cautious as possible.

Just a couple of other questions though. Did the man appear to make radio contact oranything with anyone, or did he just open the door and start shooting?

Also, was it the other SLA operatives they dragged out? From what I understand there was the body of a fellow Ebon left in the middle of the hallway - can't understand why they'd take the rest and leave her. Unless it was the bodies of their own men they were taking.

I didn't, like, go out and stare at them but they were armoured and weren't Shivers. Don't think they were on these guys' side. They left an Ebon did they? Maybe they didn't have time to drag him off or something.

Hmmm, so this guy is saying that they all got wasted, it's just that they had to leave Melody there because they couldn't carry her, and she was an Ebon while the others were Human or Frother.
I bet they figured trying to hawk a DeathSuit would gather some unwanted attention. Would anyone even buy a DeathSuit off the black market? What would you do with it?

Did the guy who broke in have any distinguishing features, like scars, unique clothing or armor, that sort of thing?
Streetwise: 2, 2 + 3 = 7 Heh, I sure don't know who'd buy a "lightly shot" Deathsuit.

The only material gain would be the armour, which is likely heavily damaged and therefore of little value.

Taking a whole body for only its damaged armour seems unusual behaviour. I believe they may have had some reason to take the bodies themselves. Which raises the question: what can you achieve with humans and frothers that you cannot achieve with an Ebon?

It might have been faster just to take them out of the apartments than stripping them? They could have taken what gear was on Melody and then taken the others, gear and all. I could be wrong, killing ops for their gear is not in my sphere of knowledge.

Dirk wrote:I agree with Cutter - seems like an awfully well coordinated hit just to steal some gear. That said you're probably right about the DeathSuit. We form a close bond with them, and it would be pointless anyone else trying to use it.

Deej, can you use your computer magic to see if we can get a physical description of what the rest of the squad looked like?
Dirk ponders something...
Dirk wrote:Wait, Melody was the only female on the squad wasn't she? I don't know if that's relevant yet, but there's a half formed idea tingling in the back of my mind.

You can get photographs of them, and a list of their equipment. You could probably piece that together. I can't remember if I gave you the equipment list already. Records show that amongst the squad were 4x FEN 603s, 2x FEN ARs, a KPS Mangler, an SP Vibrodisc and a Power Claymore, as well as two suits of Blocker and a suit of Exo.

Dirk wrote:I say we have a last look around then hit the area near the wall. Need to look to see if we recognise any of the young girls from the photographs and also if we can get any info from some of the wall Shivers.

Spindle, reckon you can do your thing and find out where wall Shivers go to drink and hang out? Be careful though, don't ask too many overt questions - the places round here are bound to be bristling with DarkNight as it is. Try asking the barman if he knows where you might be able to get your hands on cheap gun with minimum fuss.

The rest of us can look around. Due to her experience Phoebe can take point and let us know if she recognises anyone. Take Grimmie with you, that way the more obvious SLA employees amongst (i.e. me, Cutter, Deej and Eraser) can draw the attention away.
Given what we know about who asked for us on this BPN, does the description of these armed men match what the manchine cultists looked like?

Vaguely it does, in that they both wore long coats.

Shoot to kill anyone wearing a long coat!

Forgot to do my searching about. I'm going to give the corridor here the once over, then head over to the elevator end (which is where I think the bad guys came from).

Corridor

Detect: 10,8,+8 = 26
Forensics: 6,4,+5 = 15

Elevator area

Detect: 6,3,+8 = 17
Forensics: 8,4,+5 = 17
