Sorry, didn't mean to drag up that argument again, so I shall not.

Anyway, my point was more that "SLA OP noob" != "definitely less tough".

Oh I wasn't trying to imply that at all. It was more that the aggressive direct approach probably wouldn't have been the best way to accomplish the adventure. Butting heads against the enemy means you won't last long.

And yes deej was being rather headstrong, and nearly being killed has taught him a lesson. I can guarantee that.

Oh, very probably true. Trouble is, that was how Toast was made, hence my lack of expectation that he would last very long

My only real regret with him is that he didn't have much of a chance to show his fighting skillzors properly. Is a bit of a problem with SLA though, all the backstory goes on about how melee is encouraged, but in practice by the time the melee guys get to the action, everyone's been shot.

You mean when I was confusing your rifle skills? Easily done, you're both quite handy.

To stick my oar into this discussion, SLA is a bit of a double edged sword when it comes to how tough your characters are. Intimidating people can be very effective, because Operatives are tough, well armed, well trained, and have the backing of the biggest power in known space. However, there's always a bigger fish, and spotting them might not be easy. I was curious as to what would have happened in Toast's first encounter with Haynes. That's quite an obvious one out of character, but there are people and things out there beyond guns and armour. This is horror RPG remember, and you've only scratched the surface of the horror part.

Ah, now that I can explain. It's all about portrayal. Contract Killers like to use melee weapons because they look cooler, and to some extent Ops do the same. It never says melee is more effective (although it is once you get into melee), only that it looks better.

deej is feeling the bullet tax, it's one of the reasons he's so poor. between buying bullets and the rest of the gear he really needs, he's got almost nothing left (under 200c now) and he's stuck with the absolute worst real armor available.

Yeah Toast is definitely not the worst enemy out there, not even the worst we've faced so far. That Vevaphon that almost killed Gerald and Dirk I think ranks as the toughest we've had to fight, but I'm sure that SCL 6 guy that was turning serial killer and the Manchine that thankfully never attacked us would probably have been worse.

That is very true. Most Contract Killers have pretty similar attitudes (in fact both characters were being fast-tracked by Langley for that very purpose after a tipoff from someone at Meny). Most are also more arrogant and more powerful. Then there's the weird shit, and Necanthopes are only the tip of that particular iceberg. I remember the time when a Shaktar Contract Killer PC learnt why people don't call out Hallowe'en Jack.

I made a bad. The character sheet on the wiki isn't the latest. I forgot to upload it.

 I did think it looked exactly the same as the old-ish one I am using now. I'll see about re-making me sheet with the new one sometime today.

I'm totally in. awwwwwwww jeah.

edit: I don't think the new sheet calculates HP properly. I'm pretty sure the total HP is STR + PHYS, but right now it's only giving me PHYS as HP.

I still uploaded the wrong one. Fixed now - v1.0 should have starting kit in the equipment section.

Dirk confirmed for next BPN!

Congrats Doggers - that was a top notch campaign. Didn't show at all that it was winged.

I have to admit that the social interaction side of the game is one of my favourite bits. Sure it's fun to blow people up, but there's something quite rewarding about having to figure which buttons to press with someone. Especially now it's on the forum, and it even goes for other squadmates too - the reason I took my particular approach with Toast and Mephit was to try and get them to see the potential rewards for working with us. Persuasion was never really going to work, so I had to appeal to their greed. Obviously though it didn't come across that way

I genuinely love SLA - nothing else makes me feel quite so insignificant and yet enjoyable at the same time. I do hope we get some "meatier" work thrown our way. We've done a good job so far of keeping quite about some of our other exploits (the manchine etc), although I think we sailed quite close to the wind when we covered up for that Ebon vigilante (but good god the covering up was fun).

Right, I this edition of deej's sheet is correct, using DP's new version.

Yeah the only thing was my premature slaying of Mama Krutch. It was obvious that she had more things to say. DP did a fantastic job keeping it moving and rolling with our (unknowing) efforts to ruin his script.

Yep, you're right. Thanks for pointing that out. That came from my adding bonus PHYS to hits, but I accidentally replaced STR instead of adding to that too. Fixed now.
