SHIT! JUST DIE YOU BASTARD!
deej will fire another burst while continuing backing away from the clearly fucking insane Waster.

He also makes a note to mention that whoever is screening these ops out at Orange Crush is not doing a very good job.

And that Brain Wasters are a bunch to be despised.

8+6, +10(skill), +3(RoF), +1(Laser Sight), +5(Range), -2(Running), -3(Wild Shot) = 28

All rounds hit again, 12 damage. Toast crumples under the fire, still clutching the grenade.

Ah well.

Lessons learnt:

A) Playing characters that are utterly bonkers without annoying everyone is *hard*.
B) Don't underestimate what Wasters can do :)
C) Don't push the obviously psychotic unless you *want* a fight.

Time for me to roll out a new (less distressing) character then...

You don't need to roll new characters, I know you have a selection pre-rolled.

My Rifle skill is 8 not 10, but I don't think it will make too much of a difference.

Can deej see if the pin is still in the grenade?

Ah yes, it was Grimmie who was 10. You're right though, it doesn't make any difference. The pin is still in the grenade.

That was fun, and amusing. We got more action killing our team-mates than we did assaulting Mama's place.
What is SLA's take on mowing down ops that turn on their squadmates?
Grimmie wrote:Langley will be along soon.. I hope we have a good explanation for this. Saying that Mama's boys shot them down isn't going to look good for the competency of our squad, and saying we shot them down won't be such a nice story either..

'Could just bag their stuff and.. Uh.. Put them with the other bodies?

deej walks over to Toast's body and carefully removes the grenade from his hand.
I don't know, I think the truth might be the best bet. He did attack me first, we were just defending ourselves from an insane and hostile Waster. I think I got most of the happenings recorded on my cam so we have some evidence to back our story. I'm pretty sure he was going to try and claim the bounty on Krutch for him and his crony there, which is theft. I don't think we'll have too many problems with the Shivers or Cloak Division.

We should have dumped his ass when he roasted that kid, there was no call for that.

Oh hey Dirk, do you think you could heal me up a bit more? That bastard was on fire and he bit me and it really fucking hurts.
deej fires another round into Toast's chest for good measure.

That is probably going to be reclaimed by SLA sadly. Maybe we could petition the company to give it to us somehow...

Dirk wrote:The truth is a complex concept. After all we don't really know anything about the background of those two. The way I see it we tell Haynes exactly what happened - we've not really got anything to lose by doing that. But when it comes to Langley and his newscast, well it won't be our fault if he presumes they were DarkNight agents attempting to infiltrate the ranks of SLA. You know what these reporter types are like, anything for a juicier story...and I'm sure the juicier the story the better the pay.

Let me go make a couple of calls...
Dirk to Haynes wrote:Mr. Haynes, good to speak to you - for a while didn't think we'd make it. Update on the Hunter sheet for you. Mama Kutch is dead. We've secured her base of operations and have recovered a fair amount of stolen gear. We've also found what appears to be the remains of a SLA op called [can't remember that blokes name] who seems to have died down here. Secured several of the "boys" themselves - a couple of them have aspirations to be SLA op themselves, so if there's anything you can do to see the rehabilitated it would be appreciated.

Now the bad news. Those other ops we hooked up with appear to have been deranged psychopaths. They turned on us after we'd killed Mama and they very nearly made Deject kick the bucket. Both Toast and Mephit are now dead, but it was a damn close call. Any idea who passed them as fit for op work? I'd like a word in their ear at some point.

Do you need anything for proof of kill on Mama?
Whilst I remember I'm going to do a forensics test on Mama's body.

2,8,+5 = 15
Dirk to Langley wrote:Lloyd my friend, bit of an update for you. Two of our team mates turned on us just after I called you. You've not met them before - a Waster and Frother. Both appeared to be insane. They must have had some motive for attacking us, and I can only assume they were both DarkNight operatives - though I must make it clear that that information didn't come from me. We've got footage of that battle too. Toast was a Red Thermal Waster, so that should look good for the viewers. However due to the sensitive nature of the case we will need to approve any footage that goes out before broadcast.

This is going to make a damn fine news story. Don't forget our conversation about commissions and sponsorships...

I thought Grimmie let the two kids go.
Haynes wrote:They went native on you huh? Well that's always the risk with new Ops. The crazy ones usually end up dead or Contract Killer pretty quickly, which ultimately turns out to be the same thing anyway. Call the Shivers in to bag and tag the gear and Krutch. Make sure they don't skim anything off the top so they can claim the refund. I'll put you onto a talent scout I know regarding the kids. She'll probably give you a commission if they make it, and you can ask her about the screening process. Need me to look up this Op?
Langley wrote:Did you say Toast? Shit, you were with them? You just wasted two of my rising stars. Man, they didn't last long. How the hell did you end up with them? They were definately in the 'does not play well with others' category, I had them pinged for fast tracks to the Contract Circuit. Ah well. At least you got the fight on camera. People don't give a shit who's fighting who, so long as it's a good fight. Give me a nice front piece when my crew gets there and a copy of your footage and I'll get onto Third Eye. If they think they need to put any 'DarkNight' spin on it they'll do it themselves.
Looking at Mama, she's definately been altered by her Shatter addiction. Her skin is thick and tough, and she's about 7 feet tall. Under all that flab and warty skin you reckon she'd be tough as a Stormer. Luckily for you Deject's burst ripped through her chest, but it looks like even then she didn't die instantly.

Considering why we found them, I'd guess they have stuck about to watch and cheer

Nope, I spoke to them just after you said that, however looking back it appears I monged up the quoting so I'm not surprised no one noticed

deej to Lloyd wrote:It is too bad I had to kill our mutual Waster acquaintance Mr. Langley. Especially now after the damn fool attacked me, I see it would have been much better for my health, physically and mentally, if we'd just left it hate instead of blows and bullets. You see, he was about to abscond with the this dead monster's head, presumably to claim the Hunter Sheet on her for himself. Naturally, since I'm the one who did in fact take her down, I objected. Thus the fucker lit ablaze and started biting me. You'd think even such a pitiful set of armor like my Body TP would stop goddamn teeth but that's what I get for underestimating a Waster. You should be glad he went down hard though. His Deathsuit pretty much stopped my bullets cold.

We met up because by chance they had taken on this hunter sheet on Krutch who's kids broke into Dirk's apartment and stole most of his gear. As you can imagine we didn't take too kindly to that, and so the three of us thought some extra bodies would be useful to take with us.
Let's gather up all the equipment then for salvaging. The Shivers should be here fairly soon.

Langley wrote:Ah, I see. Well he did claim the reward. Actually, to be specific Mephit did about twenty minuted ago. He sent the footage of Toast taking her head in and I brokered it for them. I had no idea you were involved though, I'm really sorry guys.

Son of a bitch I knew it. And here we were going to split it up evenly amongst all of us. I have the IR footage of Mama Krutch taking a burst from my trusty AR full in the chest. And if you examine her body you'll see the wounds. Hopefully we can get that reward transferred to us. What an asshole.
deej spits on Toast's body.
