Yup, all looks fine to me, PSU's possibly a tiny bit underpowered for my liking, but It'll be fine unless you load the machine with HDDs and stuff.
You might do better with not dell monitors in 24"
This and this could be good choices. Dell monitors IME are very nice, but pretty spendy.
I prefer 24" myself because it allows 1080p content with no scaling.

Main differences with onboard sound are probably less than they used to be, given they now do surround, offer decent quality and have okay dedicated processors.
EAX is a Creative-only thing, you get better performance particularly in games with an independant card and it's slightly better screened from internal electrical noise.
Of course it's something easily added later on if you think you need it.

Kinda, I think they made EAX2 or so open sauce, so you get some EAX, but it's not that advanced. Also, I think creative are leaning more towards OpenAL stuff now, but I'm not sure how hard they're pushing itFatherJack wrote:EAX is a Creative-only thing, you get better performance particularly in games with an independant card and it's slightly better screened from internal electrical noise.
Also Fista forced software sound onto everyone anyway, so you have to use alchemy to get the processing bonuses of a dedicated card.
CPU use shouldn't really matter much either, we have power to spare at the moment.
Well only half satisfied with OCUK. Fast turn around time on orders is good (shipped next working day), but the cheaky monkies didn't pass on to DHL that I'd paid extra for pre-noon delivery, which effectively means they're swindling me out of cash - not very much mind you, but it's the principle.

Well I could have guessed it, but put two 'identical' brand new monitors next to each other with the same settings and the colours don't match...the white on the first one is quite a bit more er...vibrant/brighter? Fiddling with the settings only seems to screw all the other colours up.
I was certain that nVidia used to do a nifty piece of colour matching software, but I can't find it anywhere. Anyone got anything that might do it?

That includes the optimzation wizard doohicky. That'd explain why I can't find it thenThe following are features and functionality that were available in driver releases supporting Windows XP, but are not–and will not be–available in driver releases for Windows Fista:
• stuff
• MultiView Display Mode

Dell E248WFP. Settings seem to be identical on both as far as I can tell. The only thing that springs to mind is slight variations in monitor, cable and socket quality on the gfx card itself giving slightly more vibrance to one monitor than the other.
Anyway, pita that nVidia dropped their optimization wizard out of the Fista drivers. It was quite nifty and the only equivalent I can find elsewhere cost monies.

A quick google found this page. I've not looked at any of the stuff on there, but you could try a few and see if they give you the colour matching you want.
Side note, I missed the l out of and it changed the you're to you're, is this some anti youtube spelling werd felcher?

Adobe do a gamma thingy, but I think you can only get it with Photoshop, although it might be included in Elements.

I think I may have put that in a few months ago. I particularly dislike that example of txt speak and someone used it. I can remove it if there's any objection?HereComesPete wrote:Side note, I missed the l out of and it changed the you're to you're, is this some anti youtube spelling werd felcher?

I saw that in the word felcher and thought about expanding it, because I also despise text speak. However it would probably bugger up more legit stuff than fix tardspeak, since we don't really get any here. Also, 'you're' could mean your or you're. Mind you, I was close to changing 'lol' to 'my word, I found that so amusing I fell off my chair in mild hysterics'.spoodie wrote: I think I may have put that in a few months ago.
