In preparation for the massive update coming for Unreal Tournament 3, those who own a retail copy may now register it with Steam, free of charge.

The latest installment in the legendary online action series from Epic will be updated automatically via Steam and introduce support for Steamworks Achievements (with over 50 Achievements), plus a host of new features and enhancements in AI, Server Browsing, Demo Recording, Mod Support, and more.

To register your retail copy on Steam, simply click the main menu option 'Games' and select 'Activate a product on Steam' from within the Steam client.

 :w00t: :ilovehorses:

IIRC first game since Prey to do this, although FM2009 and a couple of others require you do it for copy protection, which is kind of different.

The achievments being added is a new twist, though.

I haven't played it in ages but I thought I might as well move the install folder to my steam folder and let steam manage the updating of it. Rather handy that is, I may even get around to shooting other people.

Hopefully. Even with a few we could invade a random server of fight against a horde of bots. I get a bit bored of straight death match in most shooters, I get bored even faster in ut games. They seem to make some of the best maps for objective based fighting.

Understandable, it was fucking awful in version 1 - 2. Random crashes were to be expected, it turned out you could almost predict to the minute when it was going to crash.

It holds a special place in my heart as the thing that got me into game art/level design, helping me to find a career I wanted to do. Got nowhere, mind.

Bah, steam is quite accepting of ut3 but it won't actually run it. Dunno what's gone wrong but I don't possess the bandwidth to actually download it through steam.

Also, says "new features including enhanced AI".. I'm sorry? You cannot possibly fix such a horrible AI as in UT.

Ohh I wasn't aware of this... now have prey as a Steam game... cool. I did like it but couldn't be arsed with digging out the DooVeD every time I wanted to play.

Must get UT3 as well.. heard good things about it.
