I've been using COMDO recently, seems to be pretty good as these things go.
Mine keeps bringing up this dialog that I have 1 day left till reactivation. Their antivirus is now combined with the firewall, but you can disable that if needed, along with "defense +" which is a data exectution prevention tool.
With those elements disabled, there are no popups - even during updates. Only a virus will trigger a message. Uses minimal resources too. I find it good enough to leave active during gaming too.
