Wanted to try and pick some new people this year, other than the current title-holders or my choice last year:
Vampire of the year
berk, two max-level (at the time) characters from scratch in WoW, plus some not inconsiderable time in AoC and WAR. That's some hours.
Talented Bastard
This year I'm picking Stoat, silently chipping away at the enormous pile of things we ask him to do, for those of us that see all he does behind the scenes, it's truly awesome.
OMG Haxxor
I think Shada gets my nom-nomination this year, so cruelly effective with the jumping launcher attack, we had to change the rules. And good enough that he didn't really need to use it.
Liver of the Year
Hehulk, for his delightful impersonation of Viz's Brown Bottle on the boards.
Meat Shield
Since everyone's picking Mr J and I feel a bit sorry for him, I'll go with Chickenz mostly because I suspect it's the award he'll be least proud of being nominated for, but also because he makes such an ample shield. Not that I can talk.
Master of the Rings
For sterling effort in keeping the Shadowrun game going, which while most of us aren't directly involved a lot of us have been following, it's Joose.
5punker of the Year
Perhaps not quite within the brief as DP described, I'm nominating HereComesPete, he's been highly active with a huge post count (and it wasn't just replies to Trev this year) and enthuasistic about games even when they didn't quite catch on. It's possible he doesn't actually know everything about everything
but he certainly has an opinion on it, and that's what drives discussions and keeps 5punk alive. More of this sort of thing.
Game of the Year
Not sure if we decided to do this elsewhere, but anyway:
Left4Dead - Wins most 5punky game in co-op mode (cos it's co-op), but has issues with longevity with it's existing maps and with balance in versus.
Fallout 3 - Stand-out single-player GoTY for me.
WoW - Around March we seemed to decide it wasn't dirty and wrong to play this anymore, and it's still drawing in new 5punky players now. There's a reason it's so massive - they've nicked the best bits out of so many games, it's hard to deny it's a polished, slick product, but are we the poorer for it?
Massive disappointments:
Spore, CoD 5, Spore and also Spore.

These are nominations (with a bit of lobbying), we'll do the votes later after everyone's had a chance to put names forward and champion their heroes, and DP's had the less-than eviable task of generating the shortlists. At least, I think that's how it usually works.HereComesPete wrote:I was going to say maybe we should split them for less mess. But the lack of voting means it's not exactly no room at the inn round here. More like tumble weed and the stink of apathy. Hopefully more votes will arrive in the next few days.
Now, obviously you haven't thought about the role of special infected enough. (now I'm assuming you mean that humans have advantage over infected, because if you mean it the other way around all I can say is that it's a load of bullshit) Some people assume that the zombie horde only serves as a distraction and that the specials are the ones who should kill. Wrong. The zombie horde is a devastating power for which you must provide a way to kill humans and therefore it's the special infected who should be a distractive horse - if you get a kill, then it's a bonus. L4D Versus is the most balanced DM-esque gameplay I've seen in a long while.FatherJack wrote:and with balance in versus

I'm gonna go with Berk as he hax at life, never mind games.
Liver of the Year

Meat Shield
Has to be Grimmie for me, on COD 4
Master of the Rings
'Slinger!
5punker of the Year

Game of the Year
I'm goona go with Roman here, as it's one of the best games I've ever played with 5punk and that's COD 4. Many great times on that game.

Yeah. We're a bit late this year so I'll put the vote threads up tomorrow.FatherJack wrote: These are nominations (with a bit of lobbying), we'll do the votes later after everyone's had a chance to put names forward and champion their heroes, and DP's had the less-than eviable task of generating the shortlists. I havn't had even half the time playing games this year that I'd like to have had and I miss you guys!, so I'll try and think back
Vampire of the year
Berk. King of Vampires, his quick-reply-ability is inhuman!
Talented Bastard
Grimmie. Yes he can draw, but his picshures always make me laugh, so I'm nominating him for comedy talents, not drawing skill.
OMG Haxxor

Liver of the Year
Jock for sleep pleasuring to lemon party
Meat Shield
I really can't think of anyone for this so will wait for the vote to decide
Master of the Rings
Bubbles. Squeaky and forin but always playing games.
5punker of the Year
Dog Pantaloons. Managing both 5punk and an ickle baby can't be easy but he seems to do both, although I suspect 5punk is far more childish.
Game of the Year
COD4 for me, not played much else but whenever I found time for this it was always classic 5punky joy (+ rage) but isn't that the winning 5punk combination?!

I meant team balance, as everyone always seems to want to be Infected, leaving being a Survivor less fun, but you've played it lot more than I have, so maybe it evens out better beyond what I've experienced.Baliame wrote:Now, obviously you haven't thought about the role of special infected enough. Yes, unfortunately that shows the epic tardness of the randoms, because it's pretty much a no-brainer that everyone will play as both sides.FatherJack wrote: I meant team balance, as everyone always seems to want to be Infected, leaving being a Survivor less fun, but you've played it lot more than I have, so maybe it evens out better beyond what I've experienced.
