Deaf Knights (eh?)

Post by Dog Pants »

Since half of us have one and nobody really knows how to use them, discuss them here (so maybe I might learn what the they're for).

Something I've found is that you can start one on any server, not just ones that you have an existing lvl55+ on.

Of the three talent paths (Blood, Frost, Undead I think), nobody seems to be going with Frost, so I might give that a go myself. Course it might be that nobody's doing Frost because it's shit.

I have a couple of points in frost, but I'm mostly unholy.

How to play it on the other hand? fuck knows, so far I'm playing mine like it's a competent melee dps thing, with some handy majick and a pet, just to take some of the damage and fill me with glee when I set him free in lowbie areas.

Yeah, I'm guessing that Unholy is the pet build. I've heard that you can tank, and it sounds like you can DPS. Healing is out, obviously. I'm wondering if Frost can be used for crowd control with its slows and holds.

I shall google myself some research.

Oh, also; I like their horsies.

I went Unholy 100%, cause I liked the look of the spell at the top, Unholy Blight - http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-talen ... labberdash

The pet ghoul is good, as is summon gargoyle, the boner shield is a nice defense, scourge strike hits pretty hard and death strike heals a bit, the horsey-go-faster spell is good, but I like the comedy death grip best - things always look so surprised when you hoik them over.

Mine's like a zombie-master with loads of diseases and afflictions to slowly kill the enemy without them realising where their health went, while pull them over and hit them with a sword to distract them, which I think is great. Pestilence is fun on low-level mobs.

Seems like they can all do tank and DPS, emphasising on one or the other but not being bad at the secondary.

Looks like Blood is melee DPS (2-h maybe) and regen tank, Frost seems to be more regular (parry/evasion) tank and a shamany mix of melee crit and spell DPS, and Undead looks to be, as FJ said, AoE DPS and presumable pet tank because there doesn't look to be much in the way of tanking talents there.

Just limited observations from what the talents look like, but it'll help me decide which path I want to take.

This made me glee a little:
: The death knight can raise a ghoul companion from the corpses of fallen creatures, as well as those of both friendly and enemy players. If cast on a friendly player, that player will have the opportunity to actually play as the ghoul, controlling its movements and actions.

Theres also a thing in the unholy thing that lets you come back for a short time as a ghoul when you die.

Not had a chance to use it yet though :)

Not sure that thing about being able to create one on any realm is accurate, I tried it and it said 'you need a level 55 character on this realm'.

Odd. I tried it on Lightbringer and got to the character generation screen, so I assumed that it would let me carry on. Is it after that it stops you?

Yeah, I get that far, then when I put a name in and press 'create' it gives me the message.

I suspect no.

Though, maybe possibly you could move a 55+ to a server, make a DK, then move the other toon back, but I bet they wouldn't allow that.

I dunno, it costs a fiver each time you move a character, so Blizzard would be making a nice penny from it.

Apparently it's £15, so I'm not going to test it like I was going to. You do appear to be able to create a DK and transfer it though, as far as I went in the process.

There are rules about moving from PvE to PvP servers (ie: you can't do it) but I don't about DKs - they've restricted their creation for a reason. Best bet is probably to transfer a 55, then make a DK, or just create a new character and get boosted by us through every quest and instance until you're L55.
