Survivors - 2008 remake

Post by spoodie »

Did anyone else see this?

I thought it was alright. It seems to be quite similar to the original series, but with less '70s. It's like a zombie programme without the zombies, lots of isolation and the people left alive fucking each other over. Worth I look if you haven't seen it, I think.

I nearly watched it, and then for some reason didn't. I wasn't aware of the original, but the trailers have mildly piqued my interest.

Just read the info about the original, looked appealing.

but
While the original 1970s show often focused on the despair of the situation, writer of the new series Adrian Hodges concentrates on the hope and the humanity. This is in an attempt to make it less depressing to watch as the kind of disaster depicted has moved out of the realm of pure science fiction
worries me about the remake, I hope it's really futile hope, and humanity in the form of people being utter bastards.

Will give it a watch :)

I saw the '70s version fairly recently and it was perfectly watch-able, well written and interesting. I suppose the period doesn't really matter, as one of the characters in the new series pointed out; modern technology is rendered useless in this situation. And if you take that away it removes much of what makes the two periods different, aside from clothes and some incidental social attitudes.

There was still a few bastards in this new series and a nice explosion so far.

The next episode is at 21:00 tomorrow (25 November 2008).

Dear Mr Spencer,

Thank you for recent application to join the team here at Apple. However, you [correctly] capitalised your "i" and, as such, failed the most basic employee screening test.

Yours,

I was protecting your anonymity, and it clearly worked; even you didn't know who I was talking about ;)
