As part of the $10 million marketing campaign for its upcoming Xbox 360 and PC thriller, Left 4 Dead, Valve is airing a pair of television commercials on network and cable television. Created with footage from the game's opening sequence, the L4D TV campaign begins on November 8. The full intro sequence will be available for public preview in the coming days.

This TV spot is available via Steam in 1080p and 720p HD resolutions.

Damn, I'll have to watch this when I get in. Looking forward to l4d rather a lot now. I'm concerned about finding time for cod5 multiplayer (it's feels enough same and yet different to cod4 that it's great) and this however. I may need to quit my job.

the only way it could be better is if they had like a TOW launcher so I could yell at bobbins.

Random info from mailing listage.
We'll be releasing the Left 4 Dead dedicated server files prior to the Left 4 Dead demo being released. More details will be sent to the mailing lists when we have them.

There are two things to keep in mind regarding running a Left 4 Dead server:

1) The CPU load for the Left 4 Dead server will be higher than you're used to for games like TF2. Left 4 Dead has a bunch of A.I. for the zombies, etc., that games like TF2 don't have.

2) Left 4 Dead uses a new matchmaking system we're developing. We'll be working with the server admin community to make sure the new system operates as smoothly as possible. More details on this later.
First thing: pretty good, means it is going to use classic dedicated servers, and tukkake should be able to handle 4 servers without too much trouble. more if i'm careful.

Second thing: perhaps not so good, hopefully it'll just be there as a beef style "<strike>play</strike>wait 4 hours now" button. rather than completely removing server browser etc.

Yeah, they better not mess up what works perfectly just because of the consoletards. Let there be a match making thing as an alternative, but don't screw with the basics that have served so well for so many years.

I suspect it's less because of that, and more because of the co-op mode, where you'll pretty much be stuck with who you start with, so that along with the reputation system should make for more balanced games for randoms.

Early access to the demo begins Thursday, November 6 on both the Xbox 360 and the PC. The demo will feature single player and co-operative modes, supporting 1 to 4 player games.

On November 11 the demo will be made available to all Xbox 360 and PC gamers, with no obligation to purchase. The demo concludes on November 18, when Left 4 Dead will be made available at retail outlets across North America and worldwide via Steam.

OK I lied. The only way this could be better is if I could have sex with it.
