Portal Prelude has been released. The uber-mod that everyone seems jolly excited about is officially out tomorrow, but is already ready for download. Hurrah! Except it's one of those 24 hour preview deals with FilePlanet. So if you want it today, you'll have to crawl through their tunnel of blades, spikes and fire, ending in a half hour wait for the download to start. Man! Anyway, rise above it: good news. We'll offer thoughts on it soon.Related stories: Posted by botherer. |

Prelude Mod? The first word gets me all excited, but the second drags me back down as it's not going to be canon back story. Which is a shame because Portal's story fascinated me.

Either way, good stuff. I was really getting into the Portal Flash levels before I hit a level that required some daft contortions that I couldn't do.

I'm 80% of the way through downloading it, so I may get to try it before, say, Christmas.

Personally, I like well-built puzzles as much as the story, so I've no problem messing with mods. I do hope they record excess dialogue next time though, so we're not subject to the same quips in every release.

It's not bad.
It's very good on a technical level, but the puzzles weren't great and the story was pretty awful.
Some good ideas, some bad ones. I only facepalmed twice. Over all, not a bad effort.
