Sound cards
Just wondering if any of you could recomend a decent sound card for me? Not really looking to spend too much but can prob afford to go upto about £100. Could do with a new headset as well but not in any great rush. Cheers in advance

don't know about the soundcard, but i have a pair of sennheiser headphones, wich is not cheap but bloody great. I do recommend putting some tape on the cable where it is connected to the headphones and by the outlet though, very flimsy cables. they sell for around £50 i believe, but some places sell them cheaper.

Yup, thats the exact combo i have. Works very nicely indeedy i think.Dog Pants wrote:PCG recommend the Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer for £60. Add the PC 161 headphones for £42 and you're just about on budget. Both are their mid range recommendations.
My ears get a bit hot after a couple of hours, but i might have weird ears.

I'd keep the same soundcard (Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer) they're pretty well known and reliable.
Those Senny pc350s look pretty nice, otherwise my standard suggestion is Beyerdynamic DT234 Pros, which a few 5punkers use/used.
Cans are a personal thing, depends what fits your head well and such, so they're not that easy to recommend.
I wouldn't try to spend £200 unless you really want to make the jump to really nice sound hardware over a few steps, and to be honest, for gaming a lot of high end stuff is wasted.

otherwise, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... =SC-049-CL might work, no idea of quality etc.
