Warhammer Online

Post by Ballunatic »

Today, the Head Start program started, and I have started playing the game.

If anyone else plays when it is released, I am:

Helden, Warrior Priest on the Burlok Server.

Biznog, Black Orc on the Axe Bite Pass Server.

Edit: And the graphics and sound are vastly improved from the final stages of beta. It is a good thing indeed.

I've literally only just started, so i'm still in my sack cloth robes, but at least I can fire these cannons and the Disc-riding sorcerors below.

My head start starts tomorrow.

One thing I think is good is that they only need to patch the beta client when it goes live, unlike WOW which required you to install the game from CD and uninstall the beta client.

You do realise you're talking about a computer game based on a Games Workshop game. You're a geek whichever side you play.*

*I'm not excluding myself from this geekdom just yet, but I'm waiting for 5punky reviews before I buy it

True, but I'm a hardcore geek, as opposed to a bandwaggoning geek ;)

Ah, I see the distinction now. Personally I'd have gone Order too, but I'll end up going whatever most 5punkers do if I do play it. That probably makes me a bandwaggoning geek.

(Thread moved to MMO)

I thought I'd check to see if my early access is available yet and the login box appears to be disabled (sort of greyed out) so I can't login and apply my code from Play. Do others have the same problem?

So how many are looking at getting this?

I'm tempted, aoc will be re-subbed when it's got more stuff, but I might as well get another mongg to play.

I'm most likely going to be khornate, I've been heavily into violent and mindless close combat since I was about eight years old.

I do like the idea of a really angry dwarf type though, all real ale and hueg beards and grudges centuries old.

Couldn't be an elf, nancy boys with pointy ears they are.

I hated AOC for many reasons, mainly the combat system and lack of detailed stats or explanations of what they did.

WHO appeals to me as I used to be an avid WOW player and this is, I'd imagine, similar, but set in a universe of which I have a tiny bit of knoweldge about.

Was going to go Chaos but I think Destruction will be the WOW "Alliance" if you get me.

I liked AOC for that, and CoH for that matter. Makes the game so much more pleasant to play when you don't have to work out every decision with a calculator.

I agree.

Warhammer has such a huge following that I doubt this will fail even if it's pants. Lots of teenagers who read White Dwarf will have been fired up by the Games Workshop propaganda machine for months and months. Generally these kids can be found saying things like "Stomp dem humies" and suchlike, so I'm imagining a lot of that Destruction side.

I had to put the different codes I got, Headstart, In-Games Items etc codes into here: http://www.war-europe.com/#/myproductkey/

It took about an hour for them to register yesterday as everyone was doing it, but you get an email when they are active.

I dont understand the head start, my code is valid from today so does it mean we are playing Open Beta but we get to keep our characters on release day (18th) or will I actually be playing the full live version from tonight?

Open beta finished saturday, this is the full game for berks who paid extra*. Most of the rest of the world gets in in a few days.

*Depending upon how much extra, you could have been playing last night

Pardon me for being naive but how am I paying extra? I simply pre-ordered from Game as I do with a lot of games and the early start was a bonus.

My understanding was collectors edition people get in first (yesterday). Special edition gets in today, and standard retail (Which isn't on the shelves yet) get in thursday I think.

Hmm not sure that's true, the headstart was just a free bonus iirc, it said nothign about being a special edition, I paid £26,99: http://www.game.co.uk/PC/RolePlaying/Ma ... Reckoning/

Only difference being last week it had the exclusive items and headstart promo.

I was able to put in my early access code without giving credit card details so it should all be free. Although I haven't logged into the game yet.
