The bad news though is that Gabe has absolutely no idea when the demo will be available.
Look like it's being released on valve time.

I honestly have no objections to this. HL2, Ep 1, Ep2, Portal and TF 2 were all released on Valve time and look at them!

I liked Ep1. I didn't like the defend-the-shacks bit from Ep2.

I much preferred it to Ep1's escort mission, but I can't see myself getting the Neighbourhood Watch achievement.

I don't even remember an escort mission. May be time to replay them, I think.

The escort mission was hard work - protect groups of medics as they dashed from one place to another, with the Combine appearing from different places each time.
EP1 didn't have the crap underground zombie darkness bit though. Although it did have the gnome.

Also, the L4D demo could be a bad move.
If it's like a single level thing, people are gonna get bored of it pretty quickly.
may or may not translate to sales.
