Spec me a new moniter bitches

the old lcd moniter I use seems to have broken during moving house. I've grown rather fond of mrs mikkyo's 22'' widescreen, so I'm thinking I'm entitled to get one. I pay the bills and wear the trousers after all, so as soon as she gives me the go ahead and some of my money to spend I shall.
Anyhoo question is, I have those new ports on my graphics card (don't recall the name, you know the ones, white and supposed to be hd or something) I had been using an adapter that allowed me to plug my vga into it, are there moniters designed for these and are they any better?

How much do you have to spend? Yes they are better (dependent on stuff <sup>tm</sup>). more specifics allow or better recommendations.
