For the past couple of weeks i have been attempting to create a little computer, from spare parts, to connect to my telly downstairs. This is all so i can stream video and music.
Trouble is, as im sure many of you know, text looks shite on tellies, and makes it somewhat difficult to browse through all the stuff. Anyone know of a good way of making this a bit easier to use?
note: this project has so far cost me a grand total of no pounds. Im looking to keep this up.
Streaming video menu thingy

is a great app i hear, but $80 so unless you can find a crack, not good.
Windows xp MCE can be downloaded,
it is however designed for specific hardware, which if you cobbled your sys together might not run too well

Zoom player is a powerful, free app. You might have to install some extra frontend to make it nice to use on a tv, im not sure.
If you know linux, mythtv
nobrainer, best app out there
There are loads out there, have a look around
