Im after a high res, High Definition monitor. Yet I have no bloody clue when it comes to monitors. So I call on your greatness once more.
I can budget at least £300 for it. Only thing I know isit needs to be HDCP*? for my blue-ray thinger. :S

If you want a really good monitor these are amongst the best you can get. It's an S-IPS panel with low input lag, the best possible viewing angles and professional quality colours.
The problem alot of people are complaining about with that dell is that it has very high input lag, which means that what you're seeing on the screen is a few frames behind whats actually happening. It's also an S-PVA panel which isn't quite as good as S-IPS but better than TN.
If you want a cheaper monitor these seem to be the best of the low cost 24" monitors, it's one of the few that can display 1080p without stretching it and it has the lowest input lag of any LCD monitor. Only problem really is that it's a TN panel, which means you'll notice slight colour shift when you move your head around, mostly vertically, they don't have great viewing angles. You may already have a TN though so you might be used to that already.

That looks like a TN so you're probably used to the viewing angles. Basically, if you look at it from above it'll all be washed out, if you look at it from below the colours will all turn negative with a TN panel.Vowles wrote:The monitor I got now is this;

All you need to know is that the order of how good they are with colours and viewing angles goes S-IPS > S-PVA > TN and thats usually the order they go in with price. That monitor is basically an updated version of the second monitor I linked to, it has a faster response time, 2ms vs 5ms, and dynamic contrast which is useless anyway, but you're mainly paying extra for it's appearance.Vowles wrote:This isnt too bad?
They're also updating the G2400W soon to the G2400WD and it'll have the same response time and dynamic contrast as the V2400W but with the old design so it'll be cheaper.
