var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/pc_games/World_of_Warcr ... s_Starting'; On a Thursday night after all the E3 shenanigans (and during our party, no less), we have word that Blizzard has begun the Wrath of the Lich King beta. Sources have told WoW Insider that the alpha phase reportedly shut down a few days ago and that invites should be going out soon for the beta. Additionally, a Blizzard site has gone live to help gamers get the beta set up. Are you one of the lucky few to get an invite? You can check out the patch notes here.
Yeah, I seem to have more fun starting new characters and doing it again, which is kind of weird in terms of not seeing any new content, but gives more immediate gratification with less time between levels, coupled with the confidence that you have already done it before.
The horsey at L30 rather took the wind out the sails of my ~L35 character, too.
Oh yeah. I could get my pile-o-dung to 30 and get a horsey, but I suppose I'll have to drag my carcass over to Thousand Needles 'cos I'm sick to high fuck of Tarren Mill. Mind you, I haven't found an awful lot of advantage to having a mount.

This can be true. Especially when it's best to kill mobs on the way to where ever your going for the purposes of grinding XP. But when you begin to encounter areas with all grey mobs it's useful, or making a dash through dangerous areas.
I don't have an invite either but I may not have requested one, I can wait. Just gotta get my priest to L55 so I can make a Death Knight like everyone else is bound to do.
It's mounts at L30 with the latest patch, don't need Lich King (as was previously thought). Mount trainers and sellers are easy enough to find - in or near your home city I believe - and I'm sure the guild can sort out any extra gold you need.
Warlocks and Paladins get them free, but my chars have about 600g between them if anyone needs a bit of dosh.
WoW seems the only MMO I'm actually quite good at making cash with, all the others I seem to always be grubbing around for the money to buy basic kit and skills.
I'm doing a little spreadsheet on a character I started on another server to see how quickly I can make money, if that's all the character does - it's about 13g on the eighth day. The game's popularity coupled with the high number of lazy people who will buy high at AH what's available from vendors around the corner make it kind of easy.
