So I want to back up just my user folder once a week and be able to take take that back up to work/friends/p's place and be able to use the files on there. Is there a program out there that will let me do this? Fista wants to back up everything except program files (but it will back up the entire program files directory sans .exes wtf?) WD Sync that came with my HD I'm using to back up on uses encryption and wants me to load stuff on other pcs to get into my data.
All I want to do is something like a simple once a week copy/paste /users/aki to my portable. Does such a thing exist? I'd love it if it would see that I deleted something from say my video folder and also deleted the back up so I don't run out of space with crap I deleted ages ago.
Hell, if anything, would a batch file work? ala copy c:blahblah to f:blahblah with strings to skip if the file exists at the destination or merge folders ect.
I miss dos when I could back up everything on a few 5 1/4 disks.

You're prolly looking for free...but I found this 30day trial on Cnet Second-Copy
It still exists, not sure how to tell it what I want to do. Looks like I'd have to make that batch file and tell the task scheduler to run it weekly. But I'm unsure how to write it to have it auto skip existing files and merge folders ect.deject wrote:Maybe use Task Scheduler (it still exists right?) to run a robocopy job?
If you just want something that can sync two folders, try SyncToy. There's different versions for xp and Fista, I think, but it might be worth a go.
It's a Microsoft thing though, so you might need to do Genuine DisAdvantage.
