Hancock is a superhero with a few issues, he is an alcoholic and evertime he tries to help somebody it ends up turning to shit. Until the day he saves the life of a PR man who helps him turn his image around and discover who he really is.
OK so the last bit sounds a bit sloppy and chick flicky, and it is - my GF was crying at the end, but this does not spoil the filim in anyway and the underlying touchy feely story will keep the women happy.
Will Smith plays the title role and does a damn good job of it, he is a drunk, abusive, mean, self centered SOB and is believable with it. He is annoying when the storyline requires him to be and he is likeable and heroic when required too. Quite a contrast to Jason Bateman's PR man, who is hollow and unbelievable, and who I hated from the start. Charlize Theron plays the love interest of both of them and, well, it's Charlize Theron - nuff said.
Jason Batemans poor performance aside, there is little I can poke at this film, it is an enjoyable film with strong emotional ties to the characters (que GF's tears) and lots of laughs too.
I recommend you go see it. Don't listen to the guy on IMDB.
7 Pies I think, loses pies for Jason Batemens performance and a slightly disjointed story line.
