Ok, after several years of sorta being aware of it, but never quite bothering to look further, I'm considering plumping for some nice water cooling for my system so I can do silly overclocks with my C2D 6600 and X1950 Pro without killing anything due to overheating.
Who produces good equipment for this, what sort of price am I looking at, and what sort of stuff should I not/do?

For a start, I really don't recommend it, it's a lot of money for (generally) not massive improvements.
You're probably looking at £100-150 minimum to get started with decent hardware, assuming you can even find a decent X1950 waterblock.
Obviously, you could buy an 8800GT, or 4850, and a very, very good cpu heatsink for less. (and will maybe get lower cpu temps)
Personally, I like dangerden and EK waterblocks, Laing D5 pumps, thermochill radiators, tygon tube and feser fluid.

You're better off buying faster hardware than buying watercooling gear to overclock.Dr. kitteny berk wrote:For a start, I really don't recommend it, it's a lot of money for (generally) not massive improvements.

It's worth mentioning that watercooling does have very good uses, like in low noise machines, or SLI setups where air cooling would have difficulty keeping the blue smoke inside the hardware.
But, basically, it's a cool toy as an addon, (my watercooling cost £200-ish, in the same time i've spent ~£600 on cpus, and £400 on a graphics card)
