Q :
A : Yes. Yes it is.viper_2090 wrote:whats the deal with this honour system??
I've been playing like a bastard on official, and officially leased servers and my honour is still at 10! Am i simply not doing well enough for it to rise, as i heard it was based on accumulating experience points?
When you get kills, or medic people, you accumulate points. These points work towards Honour : x number of exp = 1 Honour point.
Honour works on a sliding scale: ging from 10-11 is easier than going 11-12 etc
ROE reduces your exp, and, if you kill enough teammates, reduces your honour.
The best way to accumulate honour is to stay alive, and medic people : kills are secondary.
Q : i have made all 5 weapon sets in that personnel jacket thing. when i come to play how do i access these? In the screen where you select a rank changing the set seems to make no difference!
Am i being a spaz and missing something crucial here, or am i just not experienced enough?
A : Right. The weapon sets are for the m4a1 SOPMOD, the weapon used by the Special horses.
In normal maps, the main weapon is the M16....the weapon sets are useless.
On some maps they used to give u different grenade loadouts, but i think thats defunct now.
So, normally, just ignore the Weapon sets, lol
Once you pass SF training (the Exam and the E&E), and have got 15 honour from playing on official servers.....THEN u can use your weapon sets, but again, only on SF maps (hospital, teiga, oasis, sandstorm etc)
BTW, u need 15 honour to actually qualify as SF online......u can be trained, and not have 15 (i dont, i dont use honour servers, due to lag).......but u need 15 b4 u can select an SF slot on an SF map.
Q : Could you give a brief explanation of the modes, and what they involve?
I think I could get really into this game, but need a bit of direction with the basic rules for each gametype etc.
A : Ok, so the rules change on the different maps.
Generally, there is an assault and defense team on each map, who's role is pretty self explanatory, generally to hold or take set objectives, or in the case of assault, reach a certain goal.
Exception to this rule is Pipeline: here, objectives must be destroyed using Incendiary grenades.
Special horses maps (wont concern you yet) tend to have more involved, complicated objectives.
Personally, for general play i only use one map, the most popular one online: Bridge Crossing.
Set on a bridge, with teams at both ends (defense/assault) this map is simple in design and play. Its probably the best one around, with defense merely having to prevent any Assaulters reaching the trucks behind the gatehouse at one end, or killing all the assault team. Likewise, Assault must reach the trucks, or take out all defenders.
Q : Assault course, went to climb up an obstacle, before I got near the top it kept saying I'd failed, "That's a redo" or something equally annoying, gave up after about 15 trys as it was really pissing me off.
Now is my climbing skill really not up scratch? or have I missed something obvious?
A : Small hint for climbing down things: you have to be FACING the ladder.
The drill sergeant does tend to complain if you just dive off the top and break both your knees. So just turn round and step backwards, and you should find yourself climbing down the ladder/netting/barbed wire. Ok, you shouldn't be climbing barbed wire, but hey, it's YOUR hands...
OR, Just line yourself up with the frame and press forward. You'll scoot up and over it, hurtle off the end and land with a sickening crunch noise. But for some reason, thats ok.
UPDATE
Q E&E Training
A : This is THE hardest training in the game, but the rewards of being SF trained make it worthwhile. I used this guide http://www.straategy.com to pass it....best advice available on the net, including not only training but also general game tips.
