Looking for a new 22" LCD monitor

If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Looking for a new 22" LCD monitor

Post by Bingo »

As the title says I am looking for a new 22 LCD monitor to replace the current 15in" Dell I am using.

I will be using it for gaming and watching anime, dvds and fansubs, so I would like it to acutally have a goodish looking black when the screen is black. I do not know the stats of my current one, but I believe it is pretty good in terms of black.

I have read some articles that talk about stats for LCD monitors and the three seemingly most important are:

Brightness = 300 (is the avg level I have seen)
Contrast ratio = 700:1 (is the avg I have seen)
Response time = 5 or 2ms (avg)

The main thing as far as I have read that concerns me is the contrast ratio, since it is supposed to be what determines the color variances between white and black, higher ratio being better than lower.

These are the main ones I have been looking at:

Samsung syncmaster 2232bw

Viewsonic vx2240w

LG w2252tq

I would prefer not to pay much more than £220 total after shipping and tax.

Thanks in advance.

Oh, a new person, I had better be more friendly/less cryptic.

I recommend 24", hence the above post.

Also, loes  - make an introduction thread and tell us a little bit about yourself.

That's the most convincing spammer yet, I'm impressed.

Unless you judge on results that is, then the award goes to one of the porn spammers.
