The Revenge of COD4: The Return. Part 2.

Post by Dog Pants »

The 5punk COD4 server will be returning shortly, after a brief period of downtime. In order to prevent further tension and general unfluffiness I would like to reiterate a few things.

5punk is based on friendly games. We play to have fun and be silly. By our nature we will do things in the process of being daft that may piss off other players. If somebody does something that pisses you off, don't get the rage, just try to take it with a pinch of salt. If it continues to piss you off tell somebody, ideally the person in question but alternatively myself. Conversely, if you do something that pisses other 5punkers off, regardless of how funny you think it is, stop doing it. We are not griefers.

We have our own servers so that we can play our particular brand of gaming without being disturbed by randoms or by other people's server rules. It also gives us the ability to be able to remove people who would like, deliberately or not, to disrupt our games.

It is summed up well by the ubiquitous server message of "don't be a cupcake", as Berk so eloquently phrases it.

So back to the COD4 server, and with this in mind, these are the guidelines.
Don't Be a Cunt

Feel free to noob tube occasionally - If you use both grenades every time you're alive, you're gonna piss people off, the tube should be an additional treat for when hand grenades aren't suitable

Feel free to jump occasionally, should it be needed.

Mainly Noob tubing + leaping like a faggot is not acceptable.
As you can probably tell, that's directly from Berk's mouth. It has, however, been agreed as being reasonable by FatherJack, Spoodie and myself.

Please bear in mind that these are guidelines. Nobody should remove their spacebar for fear of being kicked, and similarly people trying to cause trouble 'within the rules' might be. Actions should be judged on intent.

The alternative, of course, is to play on another server.

I Strongly recommend that you all buy CoD:UO, It's the pinnacle of 5punkiness, and it costs fuckall on steam.

This is true. The game's an oddity in that it's broken and shit, but all the more enjoyable for it. Last night we discussed alternating COD4 and COD:UO for a while to keep COD4 fresh and keep UO played.

I've also found it's almost impossible to get the rage in UO. Death for me usually results in a laugh, "ouch", or "bugger". I've also noticed there's a lot more banter in UO, rather than TS being full of people talking about how they just died.

But then, with UO there is only a few of us, so mostly we see how people died :P

Wonder if it might be worth losing hardcore to make cod4 less frantic and more enjoyable for the people more prone to catching bullets with their torso.
