MMO Diaries: HKO
So as a long running joke between my girlfriend's daughter and I, I told her that if she wanted to play a MMO with me we'll sign up for HelloKittyOnline, which at the time was a joke and not a real game afaik. So when the beta opened I figured what the hell, keep the joke running and sign up.
Well Aki is now in the closed beta of HKO. It's rather colorful, and um, colorful. After arriving in the new world I was thrust into with no tooltips and lots of icons it was time to explore. 1st mission, after the how to move, talk to npcs, ect was to KILL!!!! Ok, not kill, but KO a bunch of starfish for their snot or something. The funny thing about this, they made a point to say grinding mobs it pointless as you get no xp from them and idk, it helps the environment or something. They made me, as my 1st quest, KO 50 starfish. 50 of them. That's genocide in my book when there is only 30 on the beach. They made me KO a few of them 2x.
That's all for now, gonna go shoot some nazi to get the starfish slaughter out of my mind.
Pics on request.

Took three days for them to get it to me. So I'm guessing it's normal.

I did get to play it in the end, and it was pretty crap.
The standard 2D isometric fare, a vaguely HK world bolted onto an ancient korean engine. Not very intuitive - since you can't actually kill the baddies, you just hit them until they get dizzy, but there's no indication to tell you when you're allowed to hit them again.
I kinda hoped they might be creating something new, with a cute 3D world for us to mince around in, pinkly - but it's just franchise crap stapled onto an klunky engine from the lowest bidder.
