This is the new stuff from intel, expected to land late 2008. It takes all the best idea of amd, such as on-die memory controllers and replacing FSB with hypertransport. They also expect to bring back hyperthreading for their cores. So soon there will be quad cores boasting an extra four virtual cores for a total of eight virtual cores.

Also I've just seen some stuff about the next nvidia gpu chipset. So expect a post in a few.

editz - I think the piccies are of a 2900 mechanical with some not quite good enough 'shopping done to them, so forget it for now.

why would they bring back Hyperthreading? that's just completely worthless in a quad-core.
