Greetings Ladies and Jellyspoons,
I'm getting married next year and rather than pay a huge amount of money to some twat to play shit music at the reception we're going to hook up an iPod (or other MP3 player) and do it ourselves. Question is can anyone recommend some decent speakers that could do this (prefereably not too too expensive and be able to fill a room about the size of a village hall (about 100 people it's spec'd at)) and if it has a radio too that would be a bonus!
Thanks bitches!

narf, to fill a largeish hall, (especially when full of people) you'd probably want some chunky kit. Buying that for a one off event is probably overkill.
I'd suggest renting a PA set - either 2 or 4 speakers and a matching amp.
Take a looksee at this sort of thing:

You may need a preamp or some adapery things to run directly from an ipod, best to give them a call. Remember to also budget for cables, and stands. Having the speakers off the floor will let sound spread over a greater distance.

What Prof said really, before even reading his reply, first thing was "you'll want to rent a PA system".
Plugging in an ipod will depend on the mixing desk (it'll be a mini thing, don't worry), some will accept that sort of input socket, otherwise you might have to get a DI box to covert to SLR connection.
A PA rental place will be able to inform you properly and sort you out with the proper kit needed.
