Cheyenne Mountain has revealed that Stargate Worlds is now in full production and due for release sometime in 2008.
Another Sci-fi MMO which may be of more interest to people here than the Star Trek one I pointed previously, I know there's some fans of the show here including me. There hasn't been any kind of worthwhile Stargate based game so far so fingers crossed for this one.

Thay should just blend all these Sci-Fi series MMO ideas and make one game, Fire-Gate-Trek MMO

Imagine the possibilities

You could be a high class whore captaining the Starship Enterprise on a mission to stop an egyptian god

Aren't there a few more they could have included, like the good worms, the invisible ones and the lego spiders? Plus other ones I haven't seen yet, at I'm only on Season 4.

Actually, this could be rather fun.

Remember, the stargate network is farking massive (not to mention it's NOT the only method of getting to a planet either).

They could have entire planets revolving around conquest (ala CP points in Tabula Rasa with players vs npcs etc) if they so felt like it.

But the mission scope for instances is massive, and rather varied.

Obviously it's centered on warfare, but you could have a number of storyline missions: get allies/resources from other worlds, mounting attacks, defending allies, Ancient tech hunting on planets (hell, could be an entire story line to unlock more of the network)....etc.

Hopefully there will be airborne units to some extent as well.

It's got alot of scope, which makes it interesting.

It does have potential.

But... it's a totally new developer (formed to make SG worlds), and they're using the UE3 engine.

Don't know much about Stargate? Watch Stargate: The Ark of Truth TV movie. It's quite good but not sure if it'll work that well if you don't know the background.

I've watched a number of the TV episodes, but it's never really grabbed me in the past. I meant more that I know nothing about the game.

Me neither but I don't imagine it's going to be too much of a break from the norm. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's not the same as most other MMOs, and it's good at the same time.

My mmong experience is neither broad nor deep, having played 4 months of one mmong ever, so I'll go by the untechnical judgement of "do I like it?", without comparing it to every other mmong ever made.

New info on Stargate MMO...I didn't see anything in the RSS News Feeds:
Gamespot wrote:It started with a Kurt Russell flick and expanded into an entire universe, literally. The 1994 film Stargate is the progenitor of television series Stargate SG-1, Atlantis, and, slated to premiere on the Sci-Fi channel in the summer of 2009, Stargate Universe. The upcoming massively multiplayer online game Stargate Worlds will tap into the canon that has so enthralled science-fiction fans, while attempting to evolve traditional MMO gameplay to include tactical combat and even a cover system. We sat down with Chris Klug, the creative director of Stargate Worlds, to talk about his new combat system, alien weaponry, and the future of the Stargate story. Here's what he had to say.

GameSpot: The last time we had an update on the game, you had entered full production mode with the help of the Unreal 3 engine. Where are you at in development at this point?

Chris Klug: Just about to enter Closed Beta. We're almost finished with Friends and Family. Open Beta after the 1st of the year. Moar Info
