Maybe, depending on stuff (usually money)

Not in the slightest bit interested, I'd rather spend the weekend being spooned by Chicken

Leeds Festival

Post by Lateralus »

Well, with much fanfare, the full lineup of acts for the Leeds festival was announced last night, anyone planning to go?

Image

I'd love to see Rage, Queens of the Stone Age, Metallica and Tenacious D, who unsurprisingly are spread out across all 3 days. That means a weekend ticket, which in turn means £155 plus food, drink and dodgy t-shirts. None of my mates are looking that interested at the mo, so how about a 5punky trip to the Festival? Just an idea at the moment, but thought I'd put it out there and see if there's any interest.

I'm not interested in festivals, but given the option of that or being spooned by Chicken I'd probably go.

Here's my ramble on all of them -

Tenacious D can do no wrong, pure rock comedy eargasm from start to finish.

QOTSA yes, even though it's just Josh Homme and randoms and even he's better in the eagles of death metal.

Metallica fuck yes, one of my favourites, but they'll play stadium rock and be bored when they should play their early thrash stuff and fuck stuff up.

RAGTM fuck you I won't tidy my bedroom, it's not the proper line up is it?

Got Serj from SOAD doing a set as well, that'd be ok even though he's like a singing Ben Elton when he gets going.

I dislike most of them though because it's samey indie boring shit editors/raconteurs/enemy/subways/fratellis/we are scientists/dirty pretty things/get cape wear cape fly/the bloody killers (I hate them).

Feeder have been shit for ages, you all know it's true, all that stuff circa 2k was high spirits and good summers, they haven't moved on.

Slipknot are a guilty pleasure band, I hate myself for liking it because all the little scrotes in hoodies are wearing slipknot.

Avenged sevenfold have gone really fucking emo, they look and sound like a bunch of girls at a scene funeral now.

Same for taking back sunday, bunch of emo fucks.

Biffy Clyro, good name, mediocre music, bit emo, bit mathcore, very scottish.

Dropkick murphys are good in small rooms with too many people in, dunno about stad rock, it's high energy celtic rock stuff, very oirish, great when your pissed.

Bloc party's new album is imo fucking great, good live too.

Dizzee rascal, you can't help but like him, the utter cupcake.

Anti-flag, the only hardcore punk rock band on the entire line up, bit strange. They sold out by getting a big contact on anti-capitalist lyrics, I don't care, they're quite good if you like wall of noise stuff.

I'd go to the radio one stage for pendulum and maybe the manics, but the rest can get te fuck.

Also, the fucking killers can die in a fire.

/ramble.

If I've got the time/money I might go. I'd normally go to download, but that's now super emo and can fuck off.

Pete nicely sums up my feeling mostly as well.

Given the choice between that and the download festival, I'll be sticking with Download I'm afraid

RATM - Think you'll find it is, Fuck You, I won't do what you tell me!

And yes, it is the proper line-up.

But yeah, I agree with pretty much everything else you said dude.

I'm hoping to get a day ticket to reading or leeds untill I stumble on another £500 magicly

I interpreted it as Pete implying that RATM was listened to by huffy teenagers rather than hardcore anarchists.

Pffft  I like RATM, and I'm now a huffy mid-20s. Fairly sure I couldn't claim to be a hardcore anarchist.

I like them too, just not as much as I did when I was a huffy teenager.

I've been keeping my eye on this for several months now. After hearing rumours of QOTSA and Metallica I was rather interested (I love QOTSA). However, the number of bands playing that I actually enjoy does not warrant the expenditure.

I was also planning to do Glasto this year, but after hearing numerous horror stories about the last one I've knocked that on the head.

I was debating going to leeds this year, the line up doesn't look too bad.
The Enemy - saw them at Glasto last year, were awesome
Biffy Clyro - nuff said
The Killers - Hot Fuss was a good album, since then they have turned out to be cock sniffers, slept through them at Glasto.
Tenacious D - nuff said
Metallica - ditto (the language version, not the fat fucking cupcake of a lead singer from fuckheads the gossip)
Feeder - leg end
Dropkick Murpheys - good fer a laugh
The Wombats - just to see if the other nine songs on their album sound as shit as they do in the studio

Alas the CUNTS got there before me, bought all the tickets and are now selling them on arse-bay for stupid amounts. Fucking oxygen theives. (more than anything in this world I fucking hate touts, they are a tumour on society, feeding off other people, ruining live music...CUTNTNTNTS)

I wouldn't mind, I just can't be arsed with the hassle.

Good line up though, Dropkick Murphys are rather win, The Enemy are great, and you've got 'tallica and RATM playing.

Big open festival gigs going on for 3 days arn't my thing really, they've never made me go: "oooog, I want to go".

I'll probably do it for the experience someday, but not this year.
