Worth scheduling something - Friday night instance run perhaps? For example I can run 4 people at a time through Ragefire Chasm in Orgrimmar (you'd need to be lvl 10+ ish to make it worthwhile). Or something like Wailing Caverns if people are a bit higher by then.
And I guess I should bung some gold your way - 10g at the start makes life a whole lot easier, buy bags and basic shit. Though I'm a bit short atm
Course, none of this stuff works on a trial account, which is a bit wank.

I too chose tailoring and enchanting as it's a profitable combo - just bought a load of cheap linen cloths at the AH, which should be enough to get me using wool and making green items I can wear, sell or disenchant.
Could be tricky to manage - we could have a running thread where people post what they're looking for, or we could start a guild just for the purpose of having a shared bank.
I'm heading in the making money direction, so mostly herbalism and mining to sell at AH. If there is anything everybody needs it is bags, for some reason they drop quite well in the belf area but the drop rate is bad everywhere else. I'm good for Friday
I've visited all the start areas and got flight paths, so could run around and get everyone's signature on a guild charter if needed, although it's not something I've done before, so don't know if there's a time limit or anything.
I think I can make 6-slot bags, with 8 and 10 to come when I've levelled a bit. The AH and bag sellers charge about 23s for 8 slot bags.

Herbalism and alchemy are a good combo I believe, the latter requires the former. Unless you buy all your supplies from the AH.
I tried that but the chat system will not let you, didn't think it would allow spunk to be used either so i created fivepunk. One chat channel though definately, though it won't be such an issue when we have guildchat.
Still useful to have a 5punkychat channel as well as guild, so that we can talk to Friz and people who have started playing but haven't got into the guild yet.
