Berk's Booxe

Post by Dr. kitteny berk »

Seeing as i had new booze come today (and i'm a fan of liver damage) i figured i should review all of the booze i have to hand*

Boozes

Stolichnaya Red £14.29 (70cl Bottle) (40% ABV)

The cheapest of Stoli's vodkas, the red is still reasonably smooth, and a good way ahead of Smirnoff red (and all other cheapy vodkas)

Pros
Smooth enough to drink neat
Cheap
Widely available

Cons
Nothing special, if this were a car, it'd be a ford mundane

Stolichnaya Blue £17.49 (70cl Bottle) (50% ABV)

Now, this is where stuff gets interesting from Stoli, this stuff is a little less smooth than the stoli red, but still, way above Smirnoff red in smoothness.

Pros
Strong
Can also be used as rocket fuel

Cons
A little less available
Quite pricey

Stolichnaya Gold (AKA Cristal) £16.95 (70cl Bottle) (40% ABV)

This shit is good, it's just smooth, this is not something to get pissed on (or mix with coke) it's a drink to relax with.

Pros
Smoother than James bond
Reasonably priced

Cons
none really

Knockeen hills Poteen - Extra gold strength. £28.99 (50cl Bottle) (90% ABV)

For this one, we should start with at least a little info, Poteen is Potato-based moonshine (yup, it's irish)
More to the point, this stuff is 90% ABV... 180 Proof.

This is a drink that could easily kill you, don't drink it unmixed.

Despite it's strength, it's actually quite a smooth drink.
Mixed, a shot is about equal to a double of vodka

Pros
Strong
Really, Really Strong

Cons
Expensive
Difficult to get hold of
Potentially deadly.

______

All prices grabbed from www.thedrinkshop.com
*apart from the smirnoff red (for being crap) and the absinthe (for more perverted reasons)

That, ..... and the fact they become blind and lose control of their arms and legs

Absinth is fucking deadly stuff, and if you drink too much you'll be a looney tune in no time!

actually, the cheaper absinths are far less likely to send you mad.

the better ones will generally contain more wormwood :D

Did you know that Wormwood is also the name of the star in the Book of Revelations that is a sign of the Apocalypse?

Food for thought.

this. We had some really "good" absinthe in Prague, and had a truly mental night. It ended when one of us got lost, possibly got mugged (or he may have got a taxi by mistake. we are not sure), and finally setting fire to one of those huge christmas trees you get in town centers "to keep warm".

the other week we had some uk bought absinthe. It was fairly intoxicating, but thats all really.

As for the poteen: My dad, mad irishman that he is, drinks that stuff. Neat. (albeit in very, very small amounts.)

I'm a fan of Gin myself. But nothing says "uniting all fronts" like a good Long Island. 8)

I used to drink Archers like there was no tomorrow, until they ran a load of "Archers, it's for the ladies" adverts on TV.

Now I can't order it without feeling like a poofter!

I quite like the idea of this new Malibu Pineapple drink they've brought out.

As for spirits, I have never been a fan, and stick to my Lager now days, unlike when I used to drink whatever someone put infront of me.

Mmmmmm beer. I go for Kronenbourg when I can: as strong as Stella but it doesn't taste like piss. After that I'll drink anything but cider and red wine.

I wonder who'll be the first person to own up to preferring Buckfast or Special Brew.....

i live on vodka or rum. black rum is nice, but i usualy make do with bacardi. i forget which ones were nice, erm black heart isnt bad but theres this one i always get from the local off licence. i'l look into that. ive got one of those pub style shot dispensers for spirits too :D fucking handy for when your too shitfaced to pour the right amount.
whenever i can i always steal a pina colada. takes me right back to the toppless beaches of majorca, drinking out of a coconut half. i gotta go back there some day

and as for anything else: san miguel, red stripe, cobra, and anything wet. i want to try some emu beer, its ausie and aparently the best they have acording to some dude i met the other night
