bloody xbox headsets

Post by killslay »

good news, i'll now be able to talk whenever i'm playing online (thats if you can understand my thick accent)
the little flimsy bit that attatches it to the headband snapped so
instead of getting a new headset i've done a bodge job and loaded it with a tonne of sellotape and so much glue it made my head spin
<img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y8/kil ... ay2901.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com">
also i've just got dead or alive ultimate for xbox so if anyone wishes to add me to there friends list my gamertag is killslay

They do snap easily, don't they. if only they had a standard 3.5mm jack, we could use better headsets.

Mind, we could also plug everything else in too and annoy everyone. Maybe it wasn't such a bad call after all.

doom3 is pretty bad for voice masking, its like you've inhaled a lot of helium.
halo 2 i thought was pretty bad, made you sound like an old man
and DOA: U makes you sound like a baby robot.
voice masking just makes it harder for everybody to understand strange accents and also makes it harder to tell who you're talking to

My one snapped, but a bit of glue and a couple of small screws, and its tougher than before and looks 'ard as nail's, innit?

Voice Masking is a bit crappy really, except in Midtown Madness 3, where you can choose loads, like Kid, Grandpa, Big Dude, and all that. You can also make your own, which is funky.

It's the feature of xbox live that lets you change the sound of your voice, presumably for shy types or teenage boys pretending to be girls.

Apart from the rather annoying selection on the MechaRobotThing live demo disk, the only other game I've noticed them in is Phantasy Star Online. All but one of the effects made my (already quite low) voice even deeper and practically unintelligible, the robot one being the worse, but the other one made me - really quite disturbingly and convincingly - sound like a little girl.

I've never actually gone online with it, so I can't say how much this feature is (ab)used.

Tooth Floss!

Lashed my headset back together a treat and with no bulky lump on the ear, just an occassional pleasant whiff of mint. I tried superglue before but it came off. The toothfloss as been going strong for months now.
