Make sure HDR is turned off, that can right royally fuck with your game experience. It looks nice, but being blinded is never an advantage in an FPS, so I'm not sure why anyone would ever use it narf.

My rig is fully capable of running the game at 1280x1024 with everything turned on to the max at well above 50-60FPS yet I get generally 30 if I'm lucky. The HDR in TF2 is not bad and it really helps the look of the game. Also, it doesn't matter if I turn it off my frame rate does not increase. There's some kind of bizarre problem that I can't figure out and I really can't be bothered to figure out what it is.

Yeah. I wonder what the hell the spy is for.
Good point well made. However, I can kind of see where Berk is coming from. I tend to play as a spy when the other team has some badly defended buildings, or when I'm a bit bored or want rewenge on a nemesis. However, I find it a frustrating class to play and give up on it quickly. The moving spawns and more open maps on COD serve to keep it more interesting, and I find it take me longer to get bored. The addition of custom maps is all the better, and I'll happily try new maps in either game.

That'd've been fine if they hadn't disabled FF.
Spying isn't something I enjoy that often (unless the other team is totally shit), why should i have to take a totally nerfed class just to fuck with the other team?
I'm finding I'm only enjoying being a heavy, and I think it's because I've specialised in it to the point where I'm not utter shite at playing one. Every other class I get WTFPWND within seconds of spawning and spend more time watching my spawn countdown than I do playing.

No friendly fire does put the spy class at a disadvantage, but having it on puts limitations on other classes. All the classes are nerfed in various respects, they all seem quite balanced to me. If you're willing to play to the spy's strengths and are reasonably good with that class you can do some serious damage. I can't, I'm rubbish.
I can appreciate that it's not for you though, it all depends what you want from a game.

It did in the beta, it was good.
This. It felt a lot better with FF as an option, we played on servers with and without and the pyro forgetting it was FF on was always funny to watch as he immolated his own team whilst waiting to run out the spawn point.
