Review scoring

Post by Dog Pants »

Here's an idea I've just ripped straight from RPS; rating a game on how many of the people who reviewed it would buy it. Allow me to give an example:

Myself, Chicken, Berk and Hehulk all play a new game for about a month. I kind of like it, Chicken loves it then changes his mind, Berk loves it and berates Chicken for changing his mind, and Hehulk hates it. For the sum of the review it scores out of four based on how many of us would actually pay for the game; Me and Berk would, Chicken and Hehulk wouldn't. The game scores 2 out of 4, or 50%. Obviously would only work if four or more people reviewed something, and the more people who played it the more accurate the rating would be, but I kind of like it.

RPS used Optimus Prime thumbs up or down :)

Sounds fucking ace Pants, you seem to be on a role, try finding a cure for cancer that tastes like bacon or summat.

Well, I nicked that one so I can't take credit. I'll work on the bacon cancer though.

And cheese is all made out of reconstituted fish bits.

What about games that I wouldn't buy but would sweep just to play for a bit? Do they get 1/2 a point?

Good question. Maybe a hand doing the wobbly 'meh' thing.

I suppose if you're going to sweep it then it doesn't really matter what it scores, because all it costs you is a bit of bandwidth.

This is why a 5punk political party (as postulated in the ID cards thread) might not work so well.

While the penalty for stealing a game would be that you had to share it with everyone else, the punishment for hacking would be a million years hard labour in the thorium mines.
