If it were my budget, I'd be on A&A already, but sadly I need to balance cost vs quality and while A&A have that brilliant rep, they're also really expensive.

And my exchange doesn't have A&A available.

ADSL2+ will be out when available
"crappy daytime limits" - this is because this is A&A's peak time, and they make sure their lines are not oversubscribed.

I think A&A is a great company if you need silly reliable adsl.

However for those of us who'd rather have speed and a reasonable price for consumer broadband. well, they miss out a bit there.

Very little, and a lot.

Basically, ADSL2+ is almost exactly the same as ADSL, it just uses a bit more of your phone line to make more speed.

ADSL has a max downstream speed of 8mbit
ADSL2+ will do 24mbit

Obviously though, both of those are "up to" so, can vary wildly.

This will give some idea of your potential speed.

Oh, and ADSL2+ providers run their own hardware in BT exchanges (LLU) and adopt the data part of your phone line as their own.
