Ishtar fit

Post by bomberesque »

So, Hulky gave me the idea to get a nano-ishtar and take it ratting. As I have all of the 1337 cruiser skills, I thought this sounded like a good idea and am currently saving my pennies for one.

I looked on eve-o for advice on a nanoishtar and came up mostly empty handed. Turning to EFT, I worked out a fit and tried it out in SiSi, I'm interested in what you think of it;

Omnidirectional Tracking Link I
10MN MicroWarpdrive II
Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I
Drone Navigation Computer I
Sensor Booster II

Salvager I
Prototype Cloaking Device I
Small Tractor Beam I
Drone Link Augmentor I
Small Remote Armor Repair System I

Drone Speed Augmentor I
Polycarbon Engine Housing I

*updated*

Drones
8 Heavies
8 Mediums
9 smalls
All T2 (of course)

with drone range aug, drone control range and max targetting are both around 120km. Drone navicomp ensures that heavies don't take too long to cover the distance. In testing so far (without rigs as I don't have the fitting skills) the only problem has been cruisers and BCs targetting the drones because I'm so far away. SRAR soon sorts them out once the kill is done. So far I haven't had to fire off the MAR at all, only using the cap booster to backup the MWD to maintain 90km range and a decet transversal

Does about 3000 mps without rigs and 450dps (according to eft) with T2 heavies. The NOS are there incase of PvP attack and for want of anything better to put in

Nos won't help you at all in that fit, especially since the changes. I'd definitely stick a cloak on their for 0.0 ratting so you can safespot, cloak and go afk when needed, despite the nerf to your locking time that causes. And since you have a salvager, consider a tractor beam for the other slot so you can keep moving whilst salvaging the can you have in tow.

yeah, I was looking for an alternative to the NOS... tech 1 cloak fits OK T2 won't ... unless I drop the drone rig. Is there a difference to the chances of getting scanned out T1 -> T2 proto cloak?

the salvager was very much an afterthought aswell. the idea really is to have bomber self sufficient (hence no ammo requirements), I figured the salvager might be useful in the event of a faction spawn (do faction fellas drop better salvage than normal ones?)

Faction wrecks give T2 salvage, which is a bit hit and miss in it's value. Cloaking is cloaking, can't be found if you've hit it. Can't really give too much advice on the drone rigs, neer used them, but a prolycarbon might not be a bad idea. Does add 40 mil to the cost however

regarding the rigs, I'll probably start with just the drone range one as it balances the targeting / drone control range out so nicely. That's 20M anyway iirc... I'll wait for cashola to start flowing before going further, the testing I've done so far suggests that the fit is well capable with no rigs whatsoever, but obviously still interested in comments

/edit; and I thought there was still a chance of getting scanned out unless you had a full cov-ops cloak, although perhaps I heard that wrong. Wouldn't be the first time

Eve-o is wrong. Eve-o is already wong, if your reading anything that isn't the industry or market discussion sections, and even then...

Do you need to be so far away? you could possibly get rid of the sensor booster, cap booster and either the nav comp or tracking link in exchange for 3 cap rechargers which will run your mwd forever without needing to rely on cap boosters. It just means you'll need to be a bit closer to your targets.

without the nav comp the time to target for heavies is measured in weeks. Nav comp roughly halves time to target so it's pretty essential imo. Also, you should see how warrior 2s fly when backed up with a navicomp, it's like a swarm of rocket propelled hornets :D

Tank relies almost entirely on range and transversal, so I quite like the 120km range, although I appreciate that shorter range woould further reduce time to target for drones. I may experiment at shorter ranges (about 75km without any mods, iirc) and see if it makes a big difference

The tracking comp should increase drone damage output and therefore ratting speed, although I've not tested it to see how effective it is.

It's true that it would be better to be free of the cap injector but as hehulk has pointed out, Sanshas drop booster charges. Still undecided narf and as I'm about 50M from the iskies I need to put it all together I have some time to think about it.

You're in a cruiser with an MWD, you could probably orbit around 50k and be alright, you'll definatly be out of the range of bc's and below.

And at about 90k+ is an MWD even nessassary for ratting? surely something like an AB II would be good enough for keeping range, especially with the added speed mods, not alot can reach that distance anyway.

Well, all depends where you are innit.

If you safely snuggled up deep in alliance held territory you can eschew the MWD, although elseware yes, an MWD is a must.

no alliance, no territory, very few friends

I doubt there'll be anywhere for me to snuggle. Anyway, I like having the MWD available when needed, especially those cheating MWDing BS rat bastards

almost there with the iskies, probably make the purchase next week :excited:

Hm, I completely forgot about the existance of cap recharge rigs, you could just swap the cap booster for a cap recharger and stick two cap recharge rigs in. That way you can keep your range and drone mods and be cap booster free.

Depending on how much speed you actually need you could also swap the two overdrives for another nano and something else, you'd be a bit slower but you'd have more cargo space for loot.

frankly, I'm pretty sure to be starting up without rigs. Even to a HAC, they add a significant cost and it's frankly questionable whether they're worth it on a ratting boat, unless they increase the ratting rate. On a PvP HAC I'd imagine they're about essential mind you. not sure on teh price of cap rate rigs, but if they're similar to the drone and polycarbon ones I've looked at, then I'll likely go without, at least to start with.

As fro hold space for loot, the original intent was for long periods isolated away from station, so really the only loot I'd collect would be special shineys (factional / best named) or cap boosters to feed the injector (unless i drop the injector of course) and to make the cash from the bounties only. I even considered a cargo scanner (I assume they can scan loot cans?) but it's a mid slot I really don't want to gove up

I also considered just going with a full-on PvP fit and ratting in that, on the basis that I could get scrapping if the opportunity arose.

That fit looks alright, not flown a nano ishtar since mine is a huge passive shield beast in empire, but think that would do the job. I would say put a gun on it though, getting aggro before launching drones is handy for not losing drones, and since you're extended period in deep space not losing drones is good. Even a small gun would be fine, doesn't need to do damage, you could shoot it from 100km away as long as it gets their attention.

bought and paid for :)

I'll post the final fit this evening, iirc It goes something like;

1 med rail for aggro
MRAR
drone control link (or tractor, can't recall)
Salvager
Cloak

2x cap charger II (sustainable >5m with MARII or >1hr with MWD)
YT8 MWD (lower cap use, only about 1 or 200 mps difference in speed)
Drone navi comp
omnidirectional tracking link

2x nanofibre int str II
2x inertia stab II
1x MRAR II

butt load of T2 drones

no rigs yet, but planning on a cap charge one and maybe a drone one

Anyone know if it's UK mid-term this week? The Belgians are off school, but if the uk's out aswell, then I expect teenpyeratecampfest :faint:

Plan to scout myself to supersecretrattinglocation Alpha-one later in the week.

Testing on SiSi, I have found one problem ... even with the navicomp, T2 drones can't keep up with an MWDing rat BS. Meds will, of course, hold them down but the DPS drops off of course. May try a combo of a webber drone +4 heavies and see if that makes a difference
