If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Geforce 6 Video Card

Post by Wiggy »

Seen a Geforce 6 6600 256Mb card in PC World at £99, think I ought to get one (when I get some money that is)?

EDIT: It comes with the full version of Farcry as well.

I reccomend you spend an extra £20 and get a 6600gt: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products ... 35&_LOC=UK

The 6600 runs games kind of smooth whereas the 6600gt runs them nice and smooth at decent settings.

Plus PC World very rarely sale stuff cheaper than you can find on the internet

I also agree, the GT version is worth spending the extra £20 on.

theoretically possible, I've heard of similar things. Supposedly you can unlock the 4 disabled pipelines on a 6800 standard givin 6800GT-esque performance.

OK, so I've found out that you can't unlock any pipes on a 6600-class card, because they only have 8 pipes to begin with. However, the 6200 supposedly has the same core with 4 pipes disabled. this might be unlockable to 6600-levels.
