Day In the Life of a 5punker

Post by friznit »

Now that we've all largely gone our separate ways, I thought it'd be a cool idea to write a short account of what we're up to in our various adventures in the wider Eve universe. We have Jimmy cutting a dash in Insurgency, Hehulk milking the CoW for billions (excuse the terrible pun), myself running amok in MC and Jack inventing evil concoctions in 5punk R&D...we all have stories tell, and not the usual glib crap that we see on Eve-O or SHC. This is between 5punkers, for 5punkers and stays with 5punkers. We're still a team, whichever corp we're in, unified forever by the 5ticky 5tuff!

I took part in my first Really Big MC op last night. It was unopposed - we deliberately chose the moment cos BoB was busy fighting in Y-2. We reinforced a couple of jump bridges, all the towers in TPAR (the last BoB station in Period Basis that MC/TOXIN/EVOKE want to take) for the 3rd time (!) and disabled all their station services. Thankfully some randoms appeared on the scene for us to go and shoot at otherwise it would have been very dull. I ran out of ammo (note to self: bring more than 3k AM L next time) and got pissed off changing scripts all the time whenever I went from sniper spot to close range mode. I've built myself a bs or two in 1-N with the mins I mined in NR, but it takes forever to get fittings transported down from Chamemi - I'm unwilling to use Mano's Rorqual whilst Querious is so hostile. So far I've realised that BoB is an incredibly tenacious horse, and very powerful and even MC, TOXIN and Evoke together have a hell of a fight against BoB and that's WITH the Coalition beating down the back door. Btw, there may be a market opportunity for Mega and/or Raven BPC's down here. I'm asking around...

COW and especially BS.I is quite worn out after 3 weeks of war following 5 1/2 months (How the fuck did we manage that  ) of pretty non-stop fighting in different parts of 0.0. Recounted it recently and in all that time we've had 10 days of official go-make-isk time, so quite rightly, we're having a week off.

My personal wallet is crying after last weekend. Replaced the 400 mil in ships I sacrifised trying to save carriers, but with bad timing between my inetrnets being down for 36 hours, and then going away for the weekend I've not really made a penny all week, but with a weeks downtime comming, and I've got all of next week off because it's inter-semister week at college, pretty sure I can get my wallet back above 1 billion.
While I'm on the subject of carriers, we did manage to lose a good half of our active capital fleet in just under 40 mins, but for 35 of that it was us, U-RA (we figure that's RAs industry, they seem to work very closely with RA and XXDeathXX, moving freighters and such) and Ka-Tet just pooring reserves in n-rael in a bid to save/kill our carriers after I made a bad call and ordered the carriers in. Was sorta halfway under orders to do it, but I made the judgement call to throw the cyno up even though my gut didn't like it. Turns out even at 2230 eve time, RA have caps on stand-by. Still, good fucking fight. And they musta gona wtf mate with the way my suicide cyno claymore just refused to die to their fleets fire, even though the FC probably knew all 3 carriers were jammed (Serously, nerf the fuck outa falcons. In the face. Hard. Support couldn't even come close to locking them down)

Somehow I seem to have made an impression after going though HACs and command ships like they were T1 frigs, and lots of the senior guys in BS.I have twiged that invention = megaisk if you do it right. Must have given somewhat vague instructions* to a good douzen people in the last 2 weeks, and the corps isk is going up and u. Gona be interesting when we decide we want 0.0 again with all the isk that's building behind us

* I like helping people, but detailed instructions on how exactly I make all my isk seems a tad too far. I did all the research, so can they :P

I join BS.I/CoW gangs when I get on, fly around in a heavy dictor, hac or inty and beat hulky on the killboard. Sums it up for me :P

I have however, discovered that sitting on a gate in 0.0 using the heavy dictor as a bubble generator brings a general feeling of unsafe-ness and does not equal fun.

I seem to be making a million a month on some shares I bought ages ago - for about a million. Almost wish I'd had more cash at the time, but money's not the object for me right now, still in training for ever-shifting goals.

Might seem odd to some, but I quite enjoy the way I (not very actively) play this game - without doing anything for weeks, there are nice surprises and shineys to come back to when I do log in. I will try and shoot something in my BS before the insurance expires, though ;)

Kittychan's sitting in Amo buying Trit for her researcher and training missiles/drones, and Kittysama's in Hulm training Astrogeology, of all things. Never thought I'd want to mine, but it's strangely relaxing sometimes.

Bomber still languishes with 5punk, Billy is in NR based out of Goram.

The hulk having arrived (cheers Friz :ahoy: ) I've been experimenting with mining techniques (exciting eh?) in Goram to maxinise my isk earning potential and get me a decent income stream that I can support solo. Ninja mining in the hulk works nicely, sticking to veld I can fill a can in around 20 mins and bomber can keep jup hauling. For more extended mining though ice seems to be the best hisec stuffs atm, so saving up for a Mack. Plan is to be able to generate isk solo either in short bursts (15 mins before dinner for example) or in 2 hour sessions (early saturday and sunday mornings when Bubble is still in bed) to fund some solo-pvp ships. Also considernig moving Bomber to an active PvP environment, whether corp or area I don't know. Got to get the isk sorted first.

In other news I have that bloody Norovirus thing last week and haven't had a full night's sleep since last thursday so If I'm on I'm likely to be grumpy :P

FabulousDancingYak is currently hanging around in Goram having got his list of places where his assets are kept down to 5 from about 30 odd (and 2 of them are in 0.0 in stations I most likely can't dock in anymore) and have just invested in a Mack for some Ice mining as my Hulk is currently indisposed while the jump trip out to old NR land is still a warzone. I'm also going to be working on getting the last mining director and cybernetics levels so I can get a mining director head plug and look at buying a set of regular +5's to get the skills going a little bit better.

FabulousDancingYakult is living in Jita and trying to buy and sell minerals (although rigging components seem to have better profit margins at the moment) every so often and make me a bit of extra dorrar

Recently FezCorp has been inactive due to us all having university exams but just before Christmas we had a brilliant week of war target hunting. I've never seen so many viable targets before in such a short space of time. From past experience I'm used to being bored stiff, not getting any action, then running away.

We found some valuable allies in the form of kernkraft 400 with 7 members which meant we were able to take on much larger targets than the three of us in FezCorp could've took on alone. Over the course of a week we killed quite a few solo targets and had 2 fairly even gang vs gang fights and another where we were outnumbered 2:1 and we still came away with no losses at the end of the week, I made it out from that one with about 10% structure

I'm looking forward to getting back to it :)

Today I did some NR stuff, which mostly consisted of closing down the 1-N operation (MC wanted the office back). I've invested the 2bill in the private version of ISSO, which currently makes about 40% profit per month. Although it doesn't pay dividends, the final payout should be much bigger than we can get doing anything else. On the other hand, if anyone can think of a good 5punky use for 2bill isk, let me know and I can divert the funds your way (e.g. Jack could buy some more BPO's for 5punk R&D).

I'll be jumping all that remains in Period Basis back to Goram in the next few days, once Manorina has joined ETNY so she can abuse the cyno network. Oh, and Fab - you're the CEO of NR btw.

No, corp funds paid for the fuel but some tender bummings to make me feel loved would be nice from time to time. No need to update your skills, they carry over from the first CEO who was a made for purpose reroll.

This evening I spent 1bill of corp isk on an Obelisk for Jack Slaide. This was for two reasons. One, as a thank you for looking after all our BPO's for us, and two, to bribe him to continue doing so in the future. Remember that 5punk R&D is a 'free' resource that all ex-5punkers can use, but that it's successful is all down to the hard work and efforts of Jack and co.

Well plently of pew pew up north :D

We own a constellation in Branch, which we are planning to have outposts etc etc. Anyway, to cut a long story short, we aren't part of the NAP train up here, we only have RAWR, RZR, IRON, -42- blue, and alot of people hate us :D

We currently have 6 alliances trying to take 304 off us, and we are dug in well. Plenty of good fights (and lag).

Also, last week we had intel of one of our enimies (PA) planning to shoot a IRON pos, so we set up a ambush.

http://kb.insrg.com/?a=kill_related&kll_id=16965

TRI tried jumping in there cap fleet (and they moan about lag all the time...wtf jump in 60 caps =/) but luckily they all ewarped off, and couldn't get to the gate.

Anyway fun times o/

Not free, 'free'. There's a subtlety in the formatting there that speaks volumes. Jack still has to pay his costs and make a profit otherwise it wouldn't be worth all the effort. But being a direct offshoot of 5punkorp, he gets the bonus of our BPOs and ISK to assist him, in return for which all 5punkers get preferential treatment.

I joined Mafia about two weeks ago and have had great fun smashing high-sec POSes and killing pirates - yes, Mafia is now anti-pirate. Not making billions like Hulky or Rabbs but then we have trned our backs on 0.0 until we get more members who actually log on. It is about 8 of us vs a whole alliance atm, which is nice.

Life of a 5punker. I miss a day or two and people go and talk about me.

For a quick clarification 5punkers and ex's get a 50% discount on services. I hope not to make a profit off my friends. It does however cost me about 300 mill to keep her up and running. IF anyone feels overcharged please let me know. If your friends are outside of the circle of bummin then they get charged full price and I do try to make a fair profit only.

I have just finished moving over resources from NR and putting NR assets into the que of creation. Many bpc are there and I plan to start making the darn things and selling them. For any that may question profits are going back to the mother of all corporations. We all must be mothered. If anyone has a request for somehting to be built let me know. I will check to see if we have that in stock.
