They have very little on them (personal stuff is probably kept in a locker room somewhere). What does catch your eye, however, is a thick, card shaped sliver of plastic attached to their belts by little retractable string things. Apart from the guards names and a short code, they have no markings on them.Roman Totale wrote:Chopper proceeds to rifle through the pockets of the recently deceased guards.
The gang has started throwing things, including the primitive molotov, at the guards. The guards are still keeping the gang at bay by spraying automatic fire over the top of the desk, but they are still firing way too high to hit anyone. You move slightly to get a better view of the guards and can see one desperately yelling into his radio with a confused look on his face, and another has managed to get to a hardwired comms device. He's just finished connecting to someone, and is barking orders at whoever has picked up.Dog Pants wrote:I'll try and get into a position where I can see what the guards are up to, so that I can give warning if they look like they're going to disturb my antsy colleagues.
Not really. Theres the lock, and the hinges, and you cant see anything else. Lexland.Deject wrote:Would a Security Design roll help determine where would be the best place to try and get through or no?

Chopper chucks a rope back up through the sky light, just in case a vertical escape route is required.
As far as I understand it the door to the container faces away from the entrance where the rest of the guards are. If that's the case I'll drag the bodies to make sure they're not visible - as far as the guys out front are concerned it's just the gangers out front, don't want to ruin that illusion just yet.
Are there any other doors into the warehouse?

Theres what appears to have once been a fire exit at the back, facing you guys, but its been sealed, hard. A large metal plate has been crudely welded over the middle of it: you might be able to cut through it eventually, but it would be noisy and time consuming. Your roof exit is probably the best alternative to the front door. Are there any other doors into the warehouse?
Leland (look, I did it right!) swipes the card over the panel in the door, and there is a gentle click, only barely audible over the noise from the front. The little red light flashes gently for a second, then goes green, and the door swings out by a fraction of an inch.

Im going to presume from the assent of your buddies here that you are indeed going astral. As you pop into astral space, you immediately recognise the purpose of the spell.
On the one hand: Hurrah! despite apperances, this does not look like Blood Magic. Blood Magic leaves a particularly nasty stench in astral, and theres none of that evident here.
On the other hand: The glyphs seem to be a large sustaining focus, making an extremely powerfull mana barrier around the box. The best way to describe its appearance in astral space is a totally blank bubble in space. You cant "see" through it at all astrally, and it looks to you like attempting to move through it in astral space will hurt, possibly knocking you out in the process. Seeing as normally, mana barriers are opaque, you dread to think how powerfull this thing is.
On the other other hand: As long as you are not astrally projecting or percieving, and you have no currently active foci, you can pass through this mana barrier as if there was nothing there at all.

As you move into the room, lights flick on. Presumably theres some kind of motion detectors working in here. Around the sides of the room, desks are covered in various bits of equipment and displays, all of which are a total mystery to you. In the center of the room, with a bright light centered on it, is a large plinth. On the top of it is the box.
It looks exactly as it did on the SPI's display, with intricate carvings in a dark, fine grained wood. The lid is simply hinged at the back, fastened in place at the front with a brass looking metal latch. Apart from it looking vaguely oriental, you cant make out what the carvings actually are.
On a more practical note, its about the same size as a shoe box, but with entirely square sides.
No sign of any demons. Yet.
