Things I like about hardcore:
-No HUD
-Friendly fire on

Things I don't like:
-High damage
-Reflective friendly fire (though I appreciate it'd stop intentional team killing)

Things I would like but am unsure if they're even possible without mods:
-Disabled hit indicator
-Slightly above normal damage, or normal damage, rather than immense damage.

Currently, as far as I can tell disabling the HUD alone will make the server not ranked, which is bad. (I had a look earlier)

Doesn't look like it's possible to disable the hit indicator.

There is a FF = Shared option (I think), which might be worth a look

apparently we're on shared FF now. (I think) info is a bit fucked up still.

edit: I've lowered the score limit to 1750 too, as we might just have half a chance of making that. ish.

FF Reflect >> FF On. It's fun to stand in teammates' airstrikes.

I've not had chance to try 5punky Hardcore. Can we keep it until tomorrow at least? I quite like the sound of it.

I'm not sure really. I like the hardcore aspect, but I did find that I got bored of it a bit quicker than when playing vanilla cod. I think the lack of HUD and other indicators makes it more interesting, especially with UAV, but the increased damage makes it very much an insta-kill most of the time, which can be frustrating, especially on Bloc and other places with lots of snipers.

Having had only one nights worth of play I'm tempted to just go back to normal mode, but I think It's worth investing a bit more effort in so keep it for now, although I think long term I'd rather have it normal with FF reflect on

That could be good. It would remove some of the frustrating bits of hardcore, but make the game a little less hectic.

I had a cheeky go last night and I'm not sure either. I do like the instakill when it's me doing the killing, but it seems like all you need to do is spray and pray and you'll get a kill. On the other end of that scale, as Lat said, snipers seem to really dominate some maps.

 :)

I'm not decided on hardcore mode yet, I have noticed that I can only be arsed to play a few select maps with it on tho before I fuck off and play normal. I'd much prefer it fettled so when certain blocking fuckheads (Baliame) get in my way I don't blow them to bits with the Barrett.

Oh, the joys of reflective FF. Stealing the sniperspot AND not letting them shoot through you.

this is my thought as well. in hardcore mode there's just too much getting dead with no way in hell to see or know where anything is. There were times where I was killed at least 5 times in a row without even seeing a teammate. that == ultimate frustration

Too win. Every other death was from you hiding inside a house and killing me with a single shot :(

I'd be up for a return to normal mode with friendly fire on, eventually. At least until there's some plausible way of disabling HUD whilst retaining the default damage.

Don't misunderstand. There is. But it makes the server unranked.

That's why I included the word "plausible".

Can we have one server Hardcore and one vanilla for tonight, so that it's easy to swap if we get bored?
