I'd lolz too, if I wasn't gently weeping at my memory of my friends 'time' special. Being wonderful builders of fine pc's, time had used super glue and spacers to fix his on-board graphics in such a way that the graphics over-heated in a few minutes and the spacers blocked the agp slot, what cunts.

In relation to your pc woes, I hope you get this sorted soon, and also have a hearty shout at any medion employee foolish enough to pick up a phone.

Time were located just down the road from me and I know a couple of people who worked there. Apparently they bought faulty batches and didn't test to see which worked, just sold them cheap and relied on after care to sort out the duff ones. Their labour was probably of a similar quality (I seem to remember one of the people I knew quit because it was shite, and the other was sacked for trying to smuggle CPUs out in his shoes).

Hopefully they'll sort it out so I can hold off on buying a new PC for a while longer to wait for new stuffs to be released and price drops, but if not I might be able to afford something like this after christmas:

I'll keep my 7900gs and monitor for now and then will probably upgrade them when the 9 series is released. If I can though, I'll hold off on buying the PC until Intel release cheaper 45nm CPUs.

They picked it up yesterday to take it to get fixed, hopefully it'll come back working... They did say 10 working days though so I doubt I'll get it back until after christmas

They're picking it up again on friday and said if they can't fix it they'll replace it like for like...

Ha! No doubt they can't do this because of the age, demand the current version of the model, you might get it! Or ask for your money back, you might get that.

Just got it back and its finally working, over 2 months since it first broke. Amongst the many things they've replaced though is the CPU fan, and they appear to have replaced it with a jet engine... so I'm waiting for a phone call from an engineer to come out and replace it

The "engineer" finally came to replace the noisy CPU fan, the new fan seems like it would be quieter than the old one if it wasn't running full speed non-stop. It seems to be completely failing to cool the CPU and reaching 87C. My Dad says the "engineer" just took out the old cooler and stuck in the new one so I don't think the old thermal grease was cleaned off, which is probably causing the high temperatures.

They're going to pick it up again on monday, hopefully for the last time... I've told them to stress test it to make sure it stays quiet and at decent temperatures. He did say that since it's been sent to them 3 times now they might replace it...

I'd want a new CPU if it had gone up 87°C as a direct result of the engineer's actions. They typically sit at around 40°C.

Lee, I have to ask, why didn't you just say fuck off to the engineer and put a 3rd party one on yourself?

Be fucked if I deal with companies fixing my pc's, I'll do it myself.

yeah my A64 X2 5000+ is idling at 37°C.
