New shinies

Post by FatherJack »

Having had a chance to look at the new shiny graphics, I'm very impressed by the extra detail in the ship models - it makes some formerly mundane-looking ships really stand out.

I only have noob alts with Caldari and Amaar ships, and they look silver and gold respectively - it'd be good to see some examples of better ships of theirs, which I might not get the chance to in-game.

I very much like the blue/steel effect on my trade alt's Gallente ships, but am a little disappointed that my Minmatar main's ships all look a rather similar rusty-iron brown. I guess rustbucket scrapmetal ships is the way of the Minmatar, though, and at least they have done impressive work on the cockpit and running lights, most notably on my ships the Rifter and the Hound.

I'm also liking the way ships uncloak, very nice - especially on something like an Iteron V.

For those of us that can't be bothered to log in/sign up.

Picatures please people.

Only the usual suspects are needed, also, please don't say they've done anything too drastic to my beloved rax's, they looked good as they were.

Shinies look nice, but at the end of the day eve isn't that much about graphics, so in the grand scheme of things makes little difference. It does seem a faster 3d engine when your screen has a lot to render, but on occasion undocking in an empty system causes my pc to shit itself - i assume it's loading all the textures.

Ships are nice and all, but it's bit of a shame that I still spend 90% of the time zoomed so far out all I can see is a bunch of little blue boxes, and I'm clicking on little red boxes. The backdrops remain unimaginative, repetitive and downright boring. Guess that's space for you, but they could've done something a wee bit more interesting imo.

Thankies Sir, they look rather swish.

I'm quite happy with the rax, although the phobos is less pink that it should have been :(

I like them alot, ships look alot more solid now that they used to. I think the the old backgrounds and planets kind of spoil it a bit but at least new ones are in the works, same with the effects. I hope they eventually get round to re-doing all of the sounds aswell.

This. I never really felt that the ships in EVE looked the way spaceships should/do in movies/tv/etc, but now they do :)

I got a look at the new shineys as my 256M 6200 can *technically* support them. I pretty quickly unloaded them though as the perf hit was just too big

looks good mind, another thing pushing me towards a new PC in the NY :ahoy:

Can someone post a picture of the new Rifter model please? I still have a special warm and squishy place for them.

It's still quite brown, but has a bit of reflectiveness which changes as you turn, seen here on the top on the front bits:
