Updated cod4 too far for 5punk play? Look here for answer...

Right, if you're silly like me and installed the 1.3 patch for cod:modern cod and are wondering why you can't get on the 5punk server, it's 1.2.blah. Here's how to change it back -

Hit win key/clicky start,

Clicky run,

Type regedit,

Hit enter,

Follow this path - mycomputer - hkey local machine - software - activision - call of duty 4

Then right clicky on version - modify - change to 1.0 - click ok

Run 1.3 patch, it'll ask if you want to uninstall, you do

Run 1.2 patch - If you've kept regedit open you can clicky on something else, then back on cod4 - version, should say 1.2.blah

Otherwise you can run cod, look in bottom right corner, should say 1.2.blah.

...

Profit.

Probably just me that managed this, but at least you can remain silent and hide your shame thanks to my idiocy!

probably because the server is 1.2 and will need updating and cracking.

Pete it's basically that Steam will always autoupdate CoD4 to the latest version, so that means if it's not backwards compatible, everyone will have to patch and wait for the server to be upgraded.
